A pair of Kona hard-tails...
Well, in those days I hit every trail I could find and did that one the year the book was published - 1994
I started cycling this week. Nearly died (of exhaustion) on monday. Three days on, it's going great. Basic alluminium bike. If I could go back, I would just buy a battered but better type (lighter/faster) off ebay rather than the new one i bought from halford
Yeah too right.. but luckily not in the circles I am involved in. we all just love to be out there.Much snobbery exists in cycling (as in many areas) - just enjoy the fresh air
Remember that the measure of your fitness is not how out of breath you get... it's how fast you recover that counts.
I was like you when I first started off roading with the group I go out with and 2yrs on I am still heaving when I get to the top of a steep hill, but I am back to normality a damn site faster now

i want to get really into cycling,
really want tpo clock up some miles,
like some of you lol
talking about recovery any of you take whey protein?

And Kendal mint cake
(TT)
But leave the camel toe at home, no lycra please...
I'm sure the fitness gurus may disagree but I've always believed in a good balanced diet to start with. Good hydration while out (and the hour afterwards). Build up gradually and take something with you for the energy dips. You can go for the expensive bars or whatever but I always just took mixed fruit and nuts, bananas and chocolate.
Stretch before and after but most importantly, just enjoy it M8
