Very emotive, but how does this read to you.
so somebody grasses you up for stealing a cheap childs bycicle just knowing you only did it for personal use. but the police come round find it and conficate all you electrical goods car keys freeze your bank accounts you can't pay your morgage. lose you house mrs fecks off left on your todd in a homeless unit. end up on the dole would you still be happy to report this guy who we really know nothing about..
reads like a pile of piss but if you had read earlier posts you would know what I'm on about..

Guess what? I think being so cocky you can strut about POSSIBLY buying properties for cash, and building an extension, whilst telling all and sundry his business about being on benefits is egregiously poor.

I know exactly what you are talking about. You're trying to justify it by comparing it to copying DVD/Music (something you know is probably close to the hearts of a lot of people on here) which is just as justifyable as me comparing it to stealing a childs bike. Comparing apples and oranges mate.

was just asking if he would be happy with somebody grassing him up.

There is a guy I used to see around my village. I think he was on benefits. He always appeared to me to be a compulsive liar: always talking about buying property, doing a big job, getting married.
I would generally find out later that he had been lying with him saying things like, "I'm off to Spain on Tuesday", and I'd see him in the phone box on Wednesday.
I've met really big brawny guys, who look like bruisers, who would run a mile if you said boo to them and wee skinny guys, with sweet faces, who, if you looked at them for a bit too long, would beat you to a pulp.
What I'm saying is: to know is different to supposing.

I think we all do things that could get us into trouble and none of us would be happy for being grassed up.
However I think we all understand why MPAA grass people up for copyright as it affects their wallet, how would that be any different to me grassing someone up for benefit fraud as it hits my wallet. Not necessarily an altruistic reason, but its a good one.

Once again, he's lived next door to the bloke for 10 years. It's obvious if someone works or not, he has stated that he's on benefits and he's also forking out a fortune for some major renovation. Not a lot of supposition there.
why dont the op send an annomious email to the benefit fraud dept

and he is guessing who much the work will cost 55k - 60k. has he seen builders quotes, just because his cost 45k maybe the OP got ripped off when they built his. The guy imight be just paying for the materials. for all we know friends and relations might be doing the building work. maybe he has re-morgaged the house to pay for it. the social won't pay his morgage they only pay the intrest on a morgage but only if you qualify for it.

You CANNOT know that someone is 100% cheating.
The only ones who can are the means testers at the DWP.
Report him. If he is innocent then he has nothing to worry about (I might try and make that into a song).
There are people on here doing the wild west law of the land thing. 'Stay out of his business' 'ask him, and he might hit you'
Fair enough. But, if you seek self determination, then don't ask me to support your lifestyle. Its so simple.
Again, if you are overly reliant on benefits, or lie about the need for them whilst working on the side, you are not a man, you are a scrounger.
If you need help, then it takes a man to admit he needs help. I applaud that. But, by asking for help, guess what? You have to release some of your business affairs as part of the application process, and the DWP will check up upon you to make sure you deserve it. Don't like it? Don't ask, and support yourself.
