Hi,
I just acquired a Dreambox 800HD. It's a fairly old clone from 2009 with a rev K tuner but seems to work OK with exception of one small issue. The DVI output doesn't work (SCART is fine). I think there's something really wrong with it as it seems to kill my TV every time I plug HDMI cable in.
For example, if I am watching something on HDMI input 1 on TV and simply plug in the DVI > HDMI cable to the Dreambox, which goes into HDMI input 2 on TV, input 1 stops working. The DB doesn't even have to be plugged in to the mains for TV to throw a wobbly. With the DB switched on, there's absolutely nothing on input 2. It's almost as if there is some short circuit somewhere on the DB. I have opened it up and examined the circuit board but cannot see anything out of the ordinary.
I have another known working DB and that works fine with the same cable/TV.
Has anyone had this issue and, if so, has anyone managed to fix it? Can a dry joint or some failed component cause this?
Thanks
CJ
