WiFi Wifi to tv

Hi, i don't want to stream from the internet, I just want to view my laptop screen on the tv via wifi to save me plugging an hdmi cable between to two.
Is there a gadget to do this for me. Apologies for sounding like a dork.

It just so happens I was thinking along the same lines.

I bet it's pain in the *** to set up, nothing beats a good challenge though!

I've seen some streaming boxes on amazon but when I've read the reviews they go on about 'widi' whatever that is. I think it's something to do with Intel but my laptop is powered by AMD. So I'm a bit wary.
You would think this transfer would be simple as it is with a cable.

There are straight-forward HDMI video senders (like the old 2.4GHz analogue things but better) but they are a bit pricey. Probably a bit clunky too, as you'd need to have the transmitter plugged into the PC's HDMI socket, it would need powered too
