Hi,
having problems getting into the menu when I power up the modem - ambit 250.
it seems that there is no 2second delay prior to startiung the channel scan, so won't allow me to pick "p"
any help appreciated!!
i have Hyperterminal already running, then as soon as I apply power to modem, am pressing down on p
no pause, just boots the modem to scanning...
am I doing anything wrong?
tried to copy and paste this into hyperterminal - failed.
I was able to paste the commands into Notepad as a check??
it's as if no keyboard commands work when running Hyperterminal?
DOes that make any sense - if so, then could explain why I can't get into menu on modem
no, using a max232 circuit board connecting to a serial to USB cable (altogether = max232 cable, yeah?), with cable driver installed on laptop,
was the modem flash before??? also r u seeing the Enter '1', '2', or 'p' within 2 seconds or take default??? if u r the modem is fine is ur max that might be the problem.... check that rx and the tx wires connected to the correct pin on the modem and r making good contact with the pin... also make sure ur flow control in hyperterminal com port setting is set to nonethanks. will try tomorrow.
what will the ethernet connection to modem provide over and above the max232 connection?
when I just used the max232 cable and types in modem IP into web browser, was able to see modem details ( h/w version # etc) - does this mean that the max232 is working okay?
using laptop so Wireless keyboard not a problemA couple of things as well, I found a wireless keyboard was hopeless, (I offer no explanation but when the only thing you change is keyboard and it works ......)
Secondly your receive pin is obviously fine but the transmit MAY be in question.
What I would do is power off the modem, hook up max232 and short the tx / rx pins on the modem but do it on the reverse where the solder is. This is now a loopback adapter which will test the connection to the modem. and type in hyperterm, if it echos back your wires are fine, also get a continuance test between the ground on maxboard and ground on modem when plugged in.
I have had modems flash WITHOUT VCC in, just using ground, receive and transmit. But you MUST be certain that the voltages are the same.
