Got a letter to attend Hospital a couple of weeks ago so I had to phone and check it was for me and not one of my sons as it had no first initial on letter. they said it was deffo me. got a phone call yesterday just to check I was keeping My appointment and I said yes.

So got up early this morning had a shower a shave and made sure I left the house early so rush hour traffic did not effect me arrived at hospital before 9am appointment was at 9.15 so sat and waited 20 mins or so then got call to first person to see me, sat and went through my details everything ok till she asked what was wrong with me I said I just got a letter to attend about my eyes then she read more in my notes and said my doctor had got a letter from my optician about cataracts. I said I don't have cataracts I don't even have an optician. but I am registerd partially sighted.

so we check everything again and find out My Doctor got a letter from someone elses optician put it in my folder and someone made me the appointment. so elsewhere there is some poor fecker who will have to wait ages for another appointment.

so they checked my eyes anyway, since I was there and had not had an examination in years. then I was asked to wait to see consultant he examined me then his assistant examined me then one of his collegues examined me then I had to go see a nurse to get urine and blood pressure took.

and the outcome of about 2 fecking hours of people shining lights putting drops in my eyes is.

feck knows still as blind as a bat and none the wiser.

I'm just delighted I did not get some poor B*stards letter to get a testicle removed or something worse.

Just be thankful it was not a Prostate check !!

Reminds me of the time my Auntie got a letter from the hospital for my UNCLE to go for a Cervical Smear, not only was my uncle quite obviously male and did not require the test but had sadly been dead for 2 + half years :err:

Funny world aint it lol

A shocking waste of your's and the NHS's time, but to be fair, it's probably a mistake by the surgery admin staff. My wife works in the NHS, booking clinics for consultants, and she wastes hours every week sorting out dumb mistakes like this.

i'm under a headache specialist and every 6months i get 2 reminder letters usualy on the same day for the same day/time/doctor but at different Hospitals and have to phone round to find out which one i'm actually at.
Then a week later i get a letter thanking me for cancelling my appointment and to rearrange it only to find out i haven't lol

nightmare that rabp but i know exactly what you mean.

At my doctors surgery there is a guy with exactly the same first and last name spelt identicle to me. And i got a letter from my doctors asking me to go in as there had been a breach of cofindentiality.

So i rang them they made me an appointment and i went in turns out they had been pulling my medical reocrds out for this other guy as he wanted to adopt and when i was 16 i had some bad speed cut with ajax and god knows what else.

Anyway the other guy wanted to adopt and they had sent my medical records to the adoption agency and ofc the history of drugs wasnt good and it was only when he came to the doctor and said ive never had drugs they realised they were getting mine and his records mixed up!

Thing is we obviously had diffferent address and they knew there were 2 of us so they should have made extra sure who's records they were.

The computer system now ask's for them to confirm D.O.B.
