Hi all
Short tutorial for those who have purchased a usb to serial cable and found that it isn't working with porter software. Did some research and you will need a null modem cable too or you could follow this tutorial and make your own in a few minutes.
Things you'll need:
Soldering iron
Solder
Wire strands, 1,5 - 2cm in length (3 pieces)
What you will be doing is soldering to the male adapter on your settopbox (miraclebox) and to the male adapter on the serial cable, db9 to db9. If you look at those male adapters they will be numbered where the pins are. You will solder a strand of wire from pin 5 to pin 5. Next you will solder a wire from pin 3 to pin 2. Next wire will be pin 2 to pin 3. If you search db9 to db9 pinout it'll give you a diagram of where the different cables on a null modem cable to. You want to solder ground to ground on both male heads. Then you want to solder rxd to txd and 3rd cable will be txd to rxd. All done, plug the usb end into your computer open porter and flash away.
this tutorial works for all similar boxes, skyway light, octagon 918 se+, icecrypt s3500 etc
