TomTom XL IQ Routes Edition help needed

hey there guys, i have a TomTom XL IQ Routes Edition and a few days ago i tried to update it and it crashed.
i contacted tomtom support and they told me how to format and reinstall the software but that did not install my maps again.
it seems i have to buy it AGAIN for 49.99...
so i tried downloading one but i'm really new at this and i put it on the tomtom(has 1.91 GB internal storage) but it says can't use this maps on this navigation.
does anyone know how i can get it to work on my tomtom.

If you have an account with TomTom and the device is still under warranty or even still has Map Updates in service then you should just need to connect online and the updater will do the rest, You might want to call into the Introduce yourself section while your here
