Testing it now m8 ill let you know.

EDIT: Yes it does m8 just recorded 5 mins of sly comedy hd on to a usb stick and it playsback. It has stuttered twice but that could be my kingston 2gb data traveller being a bit slow.

All seems good.

Probably my understanding, should this image do timeslip?

Also, very minor, but
1. still prompts for password, even when I didn't set one
2. http web interface doesn't work (https does)

@Sargie:
+-10 beta testers from this and the other forum deperately needs to know everything about the exact model of your TM800, exact versions of the kernel, busybox, enigma, drivers, etc.
because none of us can get the playback going for more than +-2 minutes without the box locking-up dead-solid. And this has been the case ever since the first (FTA) PVR functionality was made available (15/07).

Did a 1 min recording earlier. Just started a longer 1 now. will let you know what I find.

How do I get to be a beta tester :)

@Eazi: Err, you are running and reporting on the Beta image, aren't you? :) :)

EDIT: Except that it's all a lot more formal on the "other forum" :) But worry not, all your (DW) findings are meticulously examined, varified and conformed to reporting standards and included into the "offical" reports, and consequently treated exactly the same by TM/UR - by being completely ignored... :proud:
Good work people, keep it on!

Have you formatted the drive via the menu in TM800 ?
Just a thought

I haven't tested myself as yet as I'm at work :(

Yeah this is worth noting the first thing i did was go through the hard disk menu and "initialized" my usb drive.

Like Sargie,

Initialised my 4Gb external USB after installing image and just done and played back a 22 minute record of an encrypted channel.

Video is very jumpy, unwatchable, may be down to slow drive, and lip sync is poor (fixed by pause / play) but had no freeze / lock up.

@fdlsys, thought I could get images 10 mins earlier :)

:(:( Findigs on the playback are so f00kin random that I don't know what to make out of it... grrr...
As I said, the recorded .ts file is fine & dandy; it plays perfectly on the PC - but my TM800 still freezes after a few seconds. Could well be the memory issue, but that's beyond our interest ultimatelly - I factory reseted, flashed from the USB, set-up the tuner, scanned ONE (!) sat and tried the PVR - not my bleedin' fault even if it is the memory.
It cannot be the HDD because I have been using the same external HDD with TM600 without a single problem, ever!

@Sargie: Busy fishing for a script that Jimux wrote, that will extract the relevant stuff, will post it here if I find it...

looks like the image isnt ready then. Damn i am very close to putting mine on EBAY :proud:

I don't understand you lot lol. They have fixed some major issues wifi and in my case pvr but your still not happy?

Just flog them and be done with it i don't think your ever going to be happy with this box. :)

Im about to connect an external hdd and do a recording. My plan is to see if play back is better via a decent hdd compared to a usb stick. Unfortunatly it will be connected via usb but i want to see if the speed of the drive makes a difference or not.

Im also going to test pause, play on an encrypted channel as ive not had chance yet.

There not going for much on ebay 260663688513 i bet hes gutted only 2 bids LOL going to sell mine privately!

155 quid that sold for...he's lost nearly 100 quid on retail value...thats terrible..,

Ok here are my findings with recording.

USB: Records fine, playback is choppy with artifacts (break up) and lip sync issues.

EXTERNAL HDD VIA USB: Records fine, playback is fine no choppyness no lip sync issues. I still get artifacts across the bottom of the screen occasionaly though. I would really like to hear from someone with an internal HDD.

The usb stick used was a kingston data traveller 2gb. Recording was 5 minutes.

The hdd used was a 500gb western digital elements external HDD.Recording was 10 minutes.

In conclusion Recording to an external HDD is pretty good and definatly watchable. I recorded sly comedy hd on both occasions.

Im now going to test pvr functionality and sd channels to see if performance is any better.

Just for info...

Have now loaded Rytek multi-EPG. Scheduled a record, box turned over and recorded an encrypted channel.

I am a happy chappy :)

PVR functionality works. When pausing on an fta channel using hdd as storage it pauses fine and plays back fine. But if you press too many buttons too quick it gets confused and locks up.

Ive just recorded sly family SD and playback is perfect :) So in my opinion the playback issues im experiencing are due to the storage media not being fast enough for HD content.

I would think that a decent internal hdd will play back HD content with no issues what so ever.
