sticks on welcome screen

hi all

ive restated my comp (windows xp pro)
now it wont go past the welcome screen!!
has any1 got any ideas how to get past this there is some important folders on my desktop i really crnt afford to loose

thnx for all ur hellp m8 all sorted now ive installed windows 7, seems to be working fine now just need to find a good antivirus software to download,

i can't stress how important good anti virus is mate, it is actually worth paying for that one thing - and beleive me you won't often hear those words from my mouth.. check out ebay for the cost of antivirus software it goes for peanuts. also grab true image workstation and make a fully restoreable backup of you windows drive. save my bacon a time or two can reinstall the entire base contents of my system drive including anti virus from 1 dvd and a bootable cd in about 10 minutes - no activation no reloading antivirus and essential system tools.. can even backup to a partition then restore from a pc that won't boot in minutes
