sending bitcoin coinbase

I'm trying to send a guy $10 in bitcoin so I uploaded money and now I've like $13:83 in Coinbase. I have his btc address code so do I have to convert $10 to btc first ? sorry for sounding a bit dick like but I think its only the 2nd time I've done it

Yes just buy bitcoin with your dollars. I would buy a bit more than ten dollars as the price of BTC is always fluctuating. Then send to his wallet address. Whatever you have left in bitcoin, you can convert back to dollars.

Thanks sorted, I thought you just type the amount say dollars and it converts and takes a fee
