i dont agree with the postal strikes - there is always a much better way to deal with things than just downing tools and walking out.
Also, from business perspective, the posties are going to damage the image of royal mail for quite some time to come. Shortly after the last strike, Amazon stopped using them for some deliveries. Granted, it now means that these deliveries from amazon are really slow - but it cost the royal mail something like 7 million a year.
I also notice from the press that they are promising strikes over christmas. We all know what this will mean, many of us receive cards and gifts from members of the family we dont hear from so much at this time of year. In my mind, this is the posties punishing us for their greivances with royal mail. It will also damage the business for royal mail at a key period in the year. If the cwu wants a decent deal made, why would they try and cripple the business (which they depend on for any form of pay rise) in such a way?
To be honest, enough is enough - someone should have stepped in by now to force a resoloution. Either the government should remove the mandate for the royal mail in the UK or force them to the table with the cwu and acas.
