Go through the returns process
Then get it fixed or sell on as broken.
Just chalk it to experience.
If he gets someone to write him a slip that its counterfeit it quite likely he will have the box and money..

Unless there's somebody from the forums close by the best option seems to be to ask a local tv or PC repair place to see if they'll swap the chip over for beer money. Another option might be a mobile repair shop but make sure you check out the equipment they gave and will use as most will just have a set of precision screwdrivers.

Even if the buyer knew he was buying a clone recieber, you can bet he will deny this now that the reciever is bricked. All the rules are in the buyers favour all he has to do is say he didnt know the goods were counterfeit .
There are lots of people selling clone satellite recievers on eBay, as well as counterfeit goods. If you get away with it it's all well and good. But it is ilegal and against the Ebay rules, if you have any issues with the transaction and there is a dispute you will lose out.
Best course of action is not to sell any counterfeit goods on eBay.
