Pace 1000 Anti-Update mod and Red button (Movies)

Hi, Apologies if this has already been answered but I've searched and could not find anything matching exactly my situation...

I have a Pace 1000 box that has the anti update mod (2 Atmels pulled out on one side, but still intact). I am on the CR1 software and my red button does not work (i.e. when I press it it doesn't even say "please wait" like my friends). Is there anything I can do to get the red button to work again without soldering? By the way I'm in ex-C&W area...

Trouble is when it updates its unlikely to get the box either,hang fire someone will be along to clarify,likes of benny59 or nozzer.

It would be great to get the movies back again...I can't even watch it after 9 o'clock when some people are able to watch it without a pin...:-(

I would be content with just getting it after 9pm....
