I saw this on hukd earlier, apparently they are the same price at argos,sainsburys and a couple of other stores. also if You check out hukd there is info how to make it work on android and a few other things, maybe the info is here I haven't checked.
 
also you can get it from JL for same price... with 2 Years warranty
 
hackable to do what though, as i have 2 of these still brand new in the box!

Tis very simple. Download Nookmanger form here (direct link), unzip and put on a micro sd card. Put micro sd into nook, turn it on and then follows these pics.

Is the rooting really worth the loss of battery life etc? I found the only real benefit of rooting was the ease of getting material onto the device for reading (email, dropbox etc.). With having a smartphone etc. i can never see myself using most of the other features and i found that it killed my battery life.

Still delighted with the purchase but I found myself just going back to stock and using Calibre to convert and transfer books/magazines etc.

I haven't really used it unrooted because I did it straight away but with apps killed when not in use and wifi off my battery lasts aaagggeeeesss.
