Monitor issue

I have replaced my monitor for this one

23" AOC E2343FI Widescreen LED HDMI Monitor - Aria Technology

After connecting it up using hdmi cable supplied with it and setting the resolution to 1920 x 1080 I get the result in attached pic. It does not fill up the entire screen. Have I missed some sort of setting or what? I get the feeling I'm gonna end up looking silly after this is answered but I just cant think of what is wrong

I would imagine there is a setting on the monitor itself to auto adjust the screen size m8

See if there is an option within the monitor's OSD to set to "just scan".

on closer inspection there is an option in the menu that looks like screen adjust but it is greyed out and I cannot access it. Think I'm gonna have to contact them to ask why

Are you using ATi/AMD graphics?

If you are try going into Catalyst Control Centre and [right click] the thumbnail of the display. Then Configure > Scaling Options. Drag to right to get rid of underscan.
