Tevez transfer row set for CAS

Fifa has recommended that the Carlos Tevez dispute should go to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

West Ham United and Manchester United had asked Fifa to arbitrate on Tevez's contractual situation as the Premier League champions look to bring the Argentine to Old Trafford.

Tevez's proposed move to Manchester United has been held up after a dispute between West Ham, Manchester United and Tevez's agent Kia Joorabchian.

The wrangle over his ownership rights continues with West Ham claiming they own Tevez's registration, while Joorabchian's Media Sports Investment group say they own the economic rights of the player.

Fifa officials met with counterparts from the FA and the Premier League this week to discuss the matter and the football's world governing body have decided they will not make any ruling on Tevez's future.

Fifa spokesman Andreas Herren said: "The recommendation from Fifa to the FA and the Premier League is to go to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
"Under the circumstances it was felt it would be in the best interest of all parties to take this course.

"It looks like being the fastest way of resolving this matter.

"It is not a refusal by Fifa to get involved, quite the contrary. It is a recommendation by Fifa to opt for this way."

West Ham have reacted to the news by revealing they are happy for the matter to go to the Court of Arbitration for Sport if it is to the agreement of all parties.

ALAN SMITH could be on his way to BORO as i predicted earlier

Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed Middlesbrough are keen on signing striker Alan Smith.

Smith is thought to be mulling over his options at Manchester United as he goes in search of regular first-team football next season.

With competition for places at Old Trafford likely to be fierce, Smith could find himself well down the pecking order.

Gareth Southgate has stepped up his bid to sign the former Leeds man and is offering him the chance of playing regularly in the Premier League.

Ferguson hinted recently that Smith may be allowed to leave United if a club comes in for him and that has reignited Boro's interest.

Southgate has requested permission to speak to Smith with a view of thrashing out a deal for the England international.

Meanwhile, United youngsters Giuseppe Rossi and Gerard Pique will not be leaving United this summer, according to Ferguson.

Rossi and Pique had spells on loan at Parma and Real Zaragoza respectively and both clubs wanted to sign the players permanently.

"The lads going away proved themselves," Ferguson told the club's official website. "Giuseppe scored nine goals in 16 matches for Parma and the consensus is that he kept them up. Everyone says that.

Ferguson: Tevez is our player

Sir Alex Ferguson admits he already considers Carlos Tevez to be a Manchester United player.

The Premier League champions are waiting to conclude a deal to sign the Argentine striker from West Ham United.

Fifa has recommended the Court of Arbitration for Sport rule on the matter, while Tevez's agent Kia Joorabchian has issued a High Court writ against The Hammers.

Ferguson concedes there is no 'going back' for his club and expects Tevez to finish up at Old Trafford.

"We've done all the work, (United lawyer) Maurice Watkins has been working overtime on it for the last two months now," Ferguson told Sky Sports News.

"We've gone so far it's pointless thinking of going back now, we're where we want to be.

"We feel he's our player, and we hope that's the case and it's going to be proven in the next few days."

The United manager also revealed that he has been encouraged by the fact that Joorabchian has taken the matter to the High Court.

He added: "I feel more confident about getting him now because the agent is confident enough to take it to the High Court.

"You can be embarrassed there if it is not right and lose everything. He must be very confident regarding the situation with West Ham.

"I would imagine it will be done before the deadline, and we will wait for him anyway if we have to.

"Last summer we didn't go for him because we weren't sure of the arrangement."

Fergie hails 'incredible' Rooney

Sir Alex Ferguson believes that Wayne Rooney will benefit from his first proper pre-season with Manchester United and will be better than ever next season.

Rooney began the 2006/2007 campaign following a rushed World Cup comeback and some were quick to criticise the 21-year-old's displays.

However as the England international regained his match fitness he hit blistering form, scoring 23 goals during the course of the season.

Ferguson has predicted big things for the powerful forward and has hailed the former Everton youngster's professionalism.

"He just loves football and loves training and he will be a big player next year, believe me," Ferguson told The Sun.

"He will have a great season, because he's had a proper pre-season for the first time with us. He will be fine.

"Nothing bothers Rooney. He is incredible, a very strong character.

"Wayne is exceptional. He gets up and is the first in the training ground every morning.

"We like the players to come in for breakfast and he is in at 8.45am, the first there. Unbelievable."

Did you see the goal from Nani ? If not then you should it was superb, utter class and i cant wait for the season ahead, but rumor has it united will not concentrate on defending their premiership crown. Europe is now first on the agenda for Manchester United and players have been purchased and will be purchased in pursuit of this goal. Quite a scary fact but we now have more attacking power than anything I've ever witnessed in 32 years Europe beware. This could however signal as Liverpool's best chance to win their first premiership title with their new signings and rafa's new beard lol.

Joorabchian says Teves deal could be done by next week

Carlos Tevez's agent believes the player's future could be resolved as early as next week.

The Argentine's proposed move to Manchester United has been held up after a dispute between West Ham, Manchester United and Tevez's agent Kia Joorabchian.

The transfer has been dragging on all summer and it seemed unlikely any move would be completed before the start of the season after Fifa refused to arbitrate on Tevez's contractual situation.

As a result of Fifa's decision Joorabchian's Media Sports Investments group issued a High Court writ against West Ham United.

Manchester United remain confident they will finally get their man and Joorabchian has hinted an out-of-court settlement could be reached as early as next week.

"There is a possibility it may get resolved next week," Joorabchian told the Daily Star.

I would love to know what conversation him and Heinze would be haing when he does arrive. LOL

The Reds have finally completed the transfer of Carlos Tevez after the Premier League

The Reds have finally completed the transfer of Carlos Tevez after the Premier League registered the striker as United player.

A club spokesman told ManUtd.com: "Manchester United is delighted announce that Carlos Tevez has been registered as a member of its first-team squad by the Premier League."

The 23-year-old striker, who will wear the No.32 shirt, is now eligible to play for Reds and could take part in Sunday's season opener against Reading, but Sir Alex Ferguson said on Friday morning that he will not use the Argentina international in the match.

Instead, the former West Ham forward, who has been training with United recently, is likely to make his debut against Manchester City a week on Sunday.

“Carlos surprised us in the training sessions last week,” Sir Alex said. “After the Copa America, and with only a short holiday, I thought he might need more training. But he did very well and looked in great shape.

“He’s likely to be involved the following week against Manchester City. But it’s difficult to assess what part he'll play because if you put somebody into a derby game, you have to make sure they’re spot on. It’s not a game in which you get time. It’s always frenetic against your local rivals. We’ll measure it. Once we get clearance and we know he can play, we can make the decision quite easily.”
