[h=1]Chelsea, Man Utd or Barcelona? New footballing giant becomes world's first $1billion brand[/h]MANCHESTER United have become the first $1billion football brand on the planet – pipping Premier League champs Chelsea and European giants Barcelona to the prize.

Despite another year of no silverware, the Red Devils have defied the odds to get their brand back to the top of world football.
Barcelona added £18.3m to their brand total with their dramatic 3-1 win over Juventus in the Champions League final on Saturday.
But with their brand value sitting at just £507m, the Spanish champs are still almost £300m behind Man Utd's £791m ($1.2billion).
A brand's strength is determined by the club's players, performances and potential to generate income.

Man Utd received a record-breaking TV deal for the 2016-2020 seasons worth £9billion for the global rights.
Their shirt sponsorship deal with Chevrolet is worth £47million – more than double with previous partner AON.
And their new kit provider Adidas have agreed a deal worth £750million over the next 10 years.
As it stands, six English teams are among the top 10 for the most valuable footballing brands.
Manchester Utd, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs were all measured to have brands valued above £236m, according to Brand Finance.
Barca, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich make up the remainder of the Top 10.
But even more surprisingly is how well branded other English clubs seem to be.

Everton are in 15th place in the world while West Ham and Southampton are 16th and 18th place respectively.
Aston Villa, Newcastle Utd, Stoke City, Swansea, Crystal Palace and Sunderland also all made the top 30.
David Haigh, Brand Finance CEO, said: “Manchester United’s success has been masterminded by Ed Woodward, the Ronaldo of football’s commercial sphere.
"As Sir Alex Ferguson developed United’s world-beating reputation, Woodward (and United’s owners the Glazers) capitalised on the brand’s growing power to establish a worldwide fan-base and a range of sponsorship deals unrivalled in their number and value.”

Fair play to you for sticking with your club but you are laughable.
When you're winning feck all then it's suddenly all about oil money and that these oil rich clubs are 'ruining the game'

But now you're a 'BRAND' with a headline then you're the best team in the world again.
What did you win this year???

4-2 win against City
Most shirts sold in Southeast Asia
Billion Dollar Brand
4th place trophy

And now there are headlines such as "Manchester United will spend £200m in bid to beat Chelsea to Premier League title, claims Robin van Persie"
Why are you spending on players? What happened to your universally envied 'Youth Policy'?

Your club is in absolute disarray. You have an egotistical psychopath in charge who is in fact a tactical moron.
This world famous 'Philosiphee' is straight out of the Allardyce and Pulis management school...lump it up to the big man.
You can sign whoever you want, every other football fan is constantly laughing at you.

You need to keep going to your classes, your obsession is getting the better of you.
Late night drinking doesn't do you any good.

He is right about one thing though, United can sign whoever they want.

As for youth policy, the manager currently in charge has given first team debuts to Tyler Blackett, Paddy McNair, James Wilson, Tom Thorpe has had some minutes as has Andrés Perrerai and Jesse Lingaard started our opening fixture of the new season, that's some way to scrap the universally envied youth policy.
Van Gaal has always given youth a chance and its part of why he was brought in, he's given debuts to some pretty decent players in the past, Xavi, Andres Iniesta, Carles Puyol, Victor Valdes, Edgar Davids, Patrick Kluivert, Clarence Seedorf, Rafael van der Vaart, David Alaba.
