Hi folks,

going to london on tuesday, whats the best option, through M40 or M6.. dont want to get stuck in the traffic.. leaving at 8 in the morning..

please advise..

many thanks

sorry forgot to mention.. leaving from glasgow tonight.. staying at premiere in on M6 before stoke on trent..

M6 -> m6Toll -> M40.

You will hit variable speed limit on m40 but still by far quickest route

Don't go either way.
I live in Stoke on Trent.
From where you are staying take the M6 south and get off at Jnc 15.
Then take the A500 then A50 to the M1 then hang a right.
I never go down the M6 if I am going to London.

depends where in london your heading for. m40 for west and south west london plus heathrow and gatwick. m1 for east london and dartford crossing to kent etc. as said m6 junction 15 on a500 follow signs for a50 derby uttoxeter etc then m1 southbound. about same mileage but can be quicker due to roadworks in brum otherway is a5 (watch for speed cams) down to m42 southbound (thats only if traffic is bad at junction 12. using m6 toll is faster still but costs about 4 quid.
get your petrol before you join the motorways is a lot cheaper.
whatever you choose have a safe and pleasant journey.

I go from Bolton to Colchester quite regular and have done both M6 & Toll.

Find the M62 & A1 far quieter roads and not as boring.

Great if your going anywhere on the east side.

I agree with langland. Unless you're going to Heathrow, the M6>A500>a50> MI route is the shortest.

guys thank you for all the advice..

should have mentioned that Im going to Central London in my first post.. lol..

so ideally do you's reckon I should take the A500 route and then M1??

please advise..
