info on upgrading old version sigma

Hi all,

I am looking fo a bit of info if anyone could help please, i have an old ambit 200 on sigma 1.06 and want to upgrade it to x2 128 version.

I have done this before using soft jtag and bootloader but was just wanting to try do it through the sigma page(192......)

I dont know if this is the correct way but how i have trying to do it is change network connections to 192.168.100.10/255.255.255.0 then opened tftp and loaded 128 image, then on hack page at bottom same addy 192..... and name of image and clicked download, then it say's please wait and thats all that happens, am i right doing it the way i am trying.

The reason i am trying this is my serial ports dont work but i do have an old pc i am going to sort out for other things just have wanted to have a go at updating through hack page.

sounds like your doing it right just make sure your using the 944kb sigmax2_128_cracked.bin file and NOT the 2meg dump.

turn off all firewalls and point tftp to your file in the settings of tftp.

this is the upgrade tut from sigmax2_125 to sigmax2_128 should be the same for you with 1.06

hi mate , ime not having a go at you or owt , but thought i should tell ya that its bad manners to hijack some-one else's post you should really make your own post.

that said here's every thing your'll need for the Ambit250.

once your 250 has been flashed use this peace of software to put all the other settings onto the modem.IE: Annex mode,DS freq,MAC Address,tuner type,Config File,TFTP Server IP.

Hi mate thanks for the reply

i have tried with anti virus off and zone alarm off but it just hangs, i left it for about half hour and came back it was still saying please wait.

i have the 128 upgrade version as im using that now from when i upgraded from 125 version but i'll keep trying

oh i have been using the 944kb version to try upgrade with but i was going to try the full 2mb version since i was getting nowhere before is that not going to work

i hate something getting the better of me, i'll crack the thing if its the last thing i do lol, cheers though for the help mate

The internal tftp firmware upgrader in sigma X does not work , you will need a jtag to flash this to X2 .

yep best way is to restore bootloader, i did this just yesterday and upgraded straight to x2 128 and all went well. Seems a bit more solid than 1.06.

now i know why the image wont update thanks koevoet for that, i'll restore bootloader and do it that way, i have done it before that way just wanted to try through hack page but never mind.
