George Lucas' video and gaming empire has unveiled a new state-of-the art animation facility in Singapore.

It will begin work immediately on Clone Wars – a series of 30 minute long 3D-animated shows, set in the Star Wars universe.

Clone Wars will be based on the time between the Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith films, says Lucas.

As well as making new hits, the new studio will develop skills and techniques.

Chief technology officer Cliff Plumer said he wanted to harness “the expertise and the techniques developed over the years” by the company, and “to train a new generation of digital artists.”
