GarminXT on nokia n95 with internal GPS

delete garmindevice.xml

Still have the same problem. Integrated gps is selected only and in garmin - settings - system it shows

remote gps. when i click there i get a two options:

1. Use bluetooth gps
2. Use attacthed gps

there is a disabled sign at the top. Try to enable it but i still get the same error message.

cheers

go into your file mamager and delete garmindevice.xml (in garmin directory on memory card)

that should work

Ok..

This is a complete nightmare.

These are the steps I've taken so far:

1. Updated my phones firmware to V 21.0.016 - 14-02-08 - RM-159

2. Formatted my 4gb memory card

3. Followed the instructions and installed GarminXT

4. Gone to tools -> settings -> general -> positioning -> positioning methods -> Checked Integrated GPS only

5. Deleted garmindevice.xml from the Garmin directory

6. Gone outside and went to tools -> connectivity -> GPS data -> navigation -> and waited for the phone to pick up some satellites. The phone did and I have numerous black bars and a compass showing in the navigation page. I leave the GPS data application open.

7. I now start GarminXT. The program searches for a GPS device but gives me an error message saying " No GPS devices found. Try again?"

8. I click No and go into settings -> system -> remote GPS -> and try to enable a disabled icon at the top and I also try to enable "Use Bluetooth GPS". When I try to enable each one individually I still get the same error mesage: " No GPS devices found. Try again?"

I've made sure that I have carefully followed the instructions to install the app.

Has anyone had similar problems? I have no idea what the problem could be. Any ideas guys?

been having the same problem as you all fecking day........but finaly got it to work . Here is what I was doing wrong ,when you use keygen and save the file make sure that you only save as, sw.unl not sw.unl.txt .
save it as ALL FILES not TEXT DOCUMENTS.............. hopefully this will work for you

I've now actually given up... Can't get it to work and have no idea why. Followed alll the tips. Will try route 66 which sounds really complicated to activate. That's one of the reasons why i chose GarminXT.

:-(

OK don't give up....today i had garmin activated and it took over 15 minutes to find a satallite.....i know strange but it did, i thought it was fooked,

Was a passenger in me mates car and had it pointing to the sky, can you leave it for a wee while near the window or open sky.

might be the last straw but I'm sure we can get it working.

Working on mine, working on yours.

dibbers, I've picked up satelites using the gps navigator but i still keep getting that "no device found" message. I'll try once more tomorrow and give an update.

cheers for your patience!

:)

just out of curiosity try enabling blue tooth, and then under positioning allow blue tooth device as well and just give that a try.
Sounds mad but thats how i 1st got it working, every time i enabled garmin it would ask me to switch blue tooth on.....daft i know but thats the truth.

give that a bash.

i also close this before using garmin (infact i never open it)

i wonder if that could be why? as your all ready using the gps service for that ??? don't bother using it, make sure it's switched off and just try garmin...

Followed the steps and still no joy. I had the integrated gps and bluetooth gps activated.
The internal gps must be functional because it's picking up the statelites.

I'll try to reinstall once more and see what happens. Other than that I don't know what else to try.

Cheers.

Do you have the upto date version I had loads of chew with mine but only with the keygen I have got if you havent got it. I know it sounds daft but have to tried restarting your phone.

I don't know whether there is a different version out there but i'm using this version from the link in post 10 of this thread.

If there is a newer version with an updated keygen, then i will try it if anyone has the link.

Cheers

I know were clutching at straws like.....

I'm going to install it from scratch on a brand new phone,me mates and will let you know.

Yes the phone is open and I make sure my fingers are not getting in the way of the internal GPS.

Cheers for your help matey!

:)

mate I'm stumped, the only thing i can think of is the phone is buggered, i installed it fresh onto a brand new n95 yesterday, installed the file on the pc 1st, then disconnected the phone and it finished the installation.

Installed the POI and then restarted the phone and bingo, working garmin....

What about kicking off and getting a replacement?

dibbers,

Can you tell me which version of garmin you're using? And where I can find the file?

Plus can you tell me exactly what steps you took to install it?

cheers

OK this is all the files i've used on both mobiles.

h**p://www.sendspace.com/file/yhzdok

Connected phone as mass storage device.
Run the program from folder Run From PC first
Disconnected fone from USB cable and then let it finish installation.
then copied contents from Copy CONTENTS into Garmin Folder to mobile.

Went to garmin and then about and wrote the id down.
opened keygen and put the id in the keygen, pressed generate which gives me the code.

GHM8XBSLP5DHYVBNX77TVZ3P4 (example)

then selected the map <custome map set> and put in 197 and generated the key gen.

YZK3EJDR37GX6GJ2G4QRGYBUJ

so i now have 2 keys, one for maps and one for the garmin it's self.

6. Now open the SW.UNL file in Notepad and paste (CTRL+V) the key and save the file as SW.UNL (make sure it does not add.txt as the file extension).

7. Copy (CTRL+C) the Map unlock key to clipboard.

8. Open the GMAPSUPP.UNL file Notepad again and paste (CTRL+V) the key and save the file as GMAPSUPP.UNL (make sure it does not add.txt as the file extension).

9. Copy the two files SW.UNL and GMAPSUPP.UNL to your SD Card\Garmin directory and restart GMXT.

make sure you can see file extensions so it's defo not adding .txt to the end of it.

then turned off phone and back on again.

good luck

Did you get it working naeem? I also had this message " No GPS devices found. Try again?"
I think i reinstalled it with a different keygen and it worked eventually

In settings (on Garmin) you have to enable GPS. If you have it disabled, I think it looks for an external one.

I think it's in SETTINGS > SYSTEM

when using the keygen press generate approx 6 times I had some chew with it but it worked.

there a new crack out that means you dont have to muc around with keygens the maps even work with mapsource search for GUnlocker.rar

I have keygen versions 1.3 and 1.5 but can't rem which worked , which are you trying and failing with?

Messa
