Games dont reg i have quad core

Hi i have a quad core cpu 2.93x4 but when i install games like rainbow 6 splinter cell. It has an X on the cpu. I know this is wrong but i was just wondering if it is a bug or is my cpu under proforming??

It will be because the games are not designed for a quad core processor

So they will not be able to utilise the processor to its full potential
