might be an idea

for comet to mention you need a dish in the spec!

I'm sure the specs will be updated with more info. At the moment they only mention 30+ channels (same specs as freeview) but freesat will be advertised as 80+ channels and we all know its more like 200+ including radio and shopping :). Wait to see what else they add to update the pages. Good prices though.

any reports of which sat this will be on?
i've read articles stating it wont be on astra 2 as there is not enough free frequencies...

it is astra 2

its a service with its own non subsidised receivers that has its own EPG that blocks out the pay channels, so the channels you have in the EPG are the channels you can view

I think the links are dead now because they've aparently been asked to remove the receivers until the freesat launch. I think they were put online too soon in error, but we will see them back soon. Latest on the official start is now 2nd week of May rather than 1st of May anyway.

@Digidude, notice the installation price offered by Argos will be £80. So basic SD box £50 plus £80 = £130 or HiDef will be £230 total inc install. Some prices for us to work with :).

Oops i just realised I now got 4 posts together in this thread, that is definite post-clocking. Anyway, ITV HiDef channel is supposed to be offered along with BBC HD as from launch which should be just under 2 weeks time, but not seen any sign of ITVHD on sat yet?

The freesat site has been 'on & off' all day with lots of updated pages (black), currently back to the original white ones though. But the news is that Freesat will definitely launch May 6th. The schedule for BBC-HD shows an earlier programming start time from this day too, at 6pm, but it seems like ITV HD will not be part of the launch and will follow soon (rumour is that some ITV-HD content may be offered on interactive red button). The good news though may be that the new Freesat pages showed E4 & More4 as being part of Freesat from launch. Since E4 & More4 changed PID's last week and we know Ch4 has been broadcasting FTA recently it does look likely they will all soon be available without a card.

Comet webpages for freesat have been on and off again as well but currently removed. It looks likely stores may be able to sell & advertise the equipment as from 1st May (tomorrow).

I'll update with any other news soon :).

@ pinky, i had a full trade price list today for the boxes, will be grundig SD and HD and humax HD at launch

a LOT cheaper than sky as well ;)

I understand you dude ;)
Retail, Sky still offer their Freesatfs-SD from £75 inc install (£150 full list price), but at the moment do not offer Freesatfs-HD alternative. So retail prices will still likely be cheaper from sky with installs, or they throw in 6 months subs too etc. I'm sure Sky will fight back against Freesat anyway.

Argos site shows retail prices on the Goodmans & Bush versions too-
Goodmans-HD is £150 and the Bush-HD is £120
the Goodmans-SD is priced £70 and the Bush-SD is £50.
Argos now showing HumaxHD at £150- http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/s...001&langId=-1&searchTerms=5321595&Submit=GO+>

The Comet site had the Grundigs and HumaxHD retail prices-
Grundig-HD £150 and Humax-HD £180 i think it was
Grundig-SD £50

Price isnt everything though so installers & independants need to make it clear that 'Freesat is freedom' and the future :)
Look forward to the new epg, entering postcode yourself to set your preference area, no sales calls/material, no subs ever, HiDef now, ethernet services, etc etc. Forget price difference, Freesat is without doubt a fine upgrade over freesatfromsky.

dude & pink have you got any advertising stuff yet for freesat?
i could stick a load of posters up locally and try and get some sales...

ive enquired about point of sale stuff from a few places, but as of yet havent really found any. looking at the prices its not really going to be worthwhile me installing it, by the time a dish, lnb, receiver is bought, going by the suggested fitting price wont make it worth going further than a few hundred yards from the door to fit it

the specialist installs though will have me keep a box or 2 in stock just in case

Not much choice by the looks of it, with freesat from Sky you can get a lot more.
