Floating Wall - for AV

I was planning to connect my av receiver to both the tv and projector. Reason why i went for putting the projector on the right was because I have another sofa facing towards the projector in that direction 6m away. But if I went for placing the projector in front of a TV the distance will only be 3 meters . I was also going to put floor sanding speakers next to the sofa but I realized it won't be surround as the L,R,C speakers will be fixed to the chimney. I was thinking of scrapping the projector idea altogether. Get this my front living room is all stripped and ready for plaster and decs, kitchen is totally stripped out, units, everything, and today my misses went into Labour and the house a tip. She wasn't due for another 3 weeks. But hey I have a lovely little boy. :p work can wait for a few days. What do you think is 3m distance too close?

Congratulations on the baby,

3m is close you could use a specialised mirror and put the projector on its side, but quite a few projectors have gain settings.

But you could as you say scrap the projector, and go for a 64 or bigger tv, you will save on projector costs pal.

I just thought I would mention it mate, I would hate for you to do all the work then not be happy with your system. And getting the sound right would be a challenge to say the least.

Cheers guys. I forgot about this thread been a hectic 4 weeks , as you can imagine. In the end I decided to forget about the projector because of space issues and build a false chimnney instead for my av equipment. Below is a few pictures of my false breast . Its not finished yet but its comming along.
Ill probably buy a sound bar to put ubderneath the tv as the centre speaker and buy a pair of in walls for my Left and right speakers .

Named my little boy Adam :)

Looking good,don't forget to route all the cables you need ;)

Congrats on your new arrival too

@tlogic

Will your TV be pushed to the back of that recess or will it be level with the front of the wall...

Really you want it level with the plasterwork mate, or you will have viewing angle issues depending how far back it is and the viewing from the sides.

If you are sticking a sofa directly in front then it should be ok but if you have more than 3 people round watching you might have a problem from the side viewing mate... just thought I would mention (incase) it as a friend of mine done the same thing then ended up putting stud work inside to push it level with the wall.

Again congratulations on Little Adam :)

Regards
Mick

Well after nearly 6 weeks I have finally finished my renovation of both my living room and kitchen. Its been stressful and ive also gained alot of grey hairs because of it and im only 32 ;). Only a few snags left to sort out in the kitchen then I can relax. Funny thing is I got a buzz from it.
