You could use nails then and call in next doors to bend your nails over. Sorted.

Not to be pedantic, but ,the batton will only be as strong as the wall its fixed to,therefore wall is stronger

Just had an idea, you could drill a say 10am hole where you need toe screw to go, then knock in some 11am doul and cut it flush to wall then should have a good anchor for gate
