It just shows you how corrupt football has become. Reverse the roles on this were a keeper jumps from the same spot and a player comes flying in an takes him out without getting the ball, ref blows foul on the keeper.

This season VAR have been instructed to leave more decisions to the ref but in this situation it was the perfect time for them to step in and say to him "Have a look at this one on the monitor".

If I were a Wolves fan paying all that money and perform like then only to be done by a ref been bent and VARs mistake I'd be furious.

It just highlights the corruption at top level.
Put it this way, had that been at Wolves and the Wolves keeper coming for it it would have been a stone waller, disgusting.

I felt for Gary O'Neil at the end. I still can't my head which part of it isn't a foul. Even at Sunday ammy level you'd get that given:-

Football has been corrupt since they took the sky money (disgrace that vid for every football fan) years ago, there's more controversy over VAR than before VAR. I'd get rid of it to be honest.

On a similar note, look how the game has been absolutely and totally f***ed by the saudi money - a football forum I frequent Neymar now the latest helping to kill football as we know it….

Thought's?

There was a similar one last season where a Leeds player was wiped out by keeper who tried and failed to punch the ball, instead punching Leeds player. No penalty given. I was kind of thinking it was a good thing there would be no VAR in Championship until the penalty for Birmingham was given on Saturday. 🤦🏻

I read an article on a guy who specialises in football fianances and he was asked
"How much money have the Saudi's got to invest in Saudi football?, he said "I'm not exaggerating when I say trillions."

It makes the Sky deal look like small change. Were ever large amounts of money swap hands corruption is one step behind.

Last night was the perfect time for VAR to be used and they chose to ignored it. For what reason ?, there can only be one thing, their paid off and then put it down to human error "We all make mistakes". This then throws the whole point of VAR up in the air.
If they now say the ref should make more decisions what's the point of it. When VAR was brought in it was mainly for goal scoring incidents and penalties. Now it's offsides and not fouls poss pens.
It's bent, VAR and refs need investigating

Agree
If there's no VAR then yes mistakes happen and last night's gets put down to a ref error but saying that there's 2 friggin linesmen who missed it.
The difference is they have a panel up there and still got it wrong. I'm not sure what game they were watching on VAR screens but it wasn't the one I watched

Makes me wonder what the International consequences of playing for a Saudi team would be. With the mega, mega money they are paying then surely the insurance costs to represent their Country would also be mega, mega.
If a player had his career wrecked through injury the Saudis would want their money back.

It's not just football that can't make up its mind.

Rugby Union, Farrell can't miss start of Rugby World Cup for England, surely not...

Quite surprised the wolves player wasn't booked for obstructing the keeper.....;) You win some you lose some even with VAR o_O
But that's were it's wrong, VAR was introduced to eliminate that. There's 4 in a box with full access to replays and 3 on field officials and again the ref who also has access to replays if needed on all major decisions. There's no way they should get something as clear as that foul so wrong.
To get it wrong there has to be a reason

Money

Blunder ref Simon Hooper and the VAR team who missed Wolves' blatant last gasp penalty at Old Trafford have been dropped from next weekend's epl list.
If that's the case good, drop them to L2 let them have a month down there as punishment.
At least they can't blame VAR there

Ranking the Premier League clubs by who was most affected by VAR

Highlights below

Aston Villa +11
Unai Emery’s men have made it to the Europa Conference League and they will be thankful that VAR went in their favour more often than not in the 2022-23 campaign.
Without the technology, Villa would have been 11 points worse off and would have sunk to ninth in the table. Cody Gakpo’s disallowed goal against Aston Villa was one decision which had everyone talking recently.

Liverpool +6
Jurgen Klopp’s side fell below expectations this season and VAR actually helped them out on several occasions. However, the six extra points they gained from VAR calls weren’t enough to get them a place in the top four.

Arsenal +2
Despite VAR working in Arsenal’s favour overall, they have had some high-profile decisions go against them. Perhaps the biggest mistake of the season was to allow Ivan Toney’s equaliser against them, despite Christian Norgaard being in an offside position in the build-up.
It later transpired that the officials had made a mistake and had the lines been drawn, the goal wouldn’t have stood.

Fulham +2
Marco Silva’s side have been a fine addition to the Premier League this season and have caught plenty of people off guard. The off-field technology has worked in their favour more often as they are two points better off with it.

Manchester United +1
One of VAR’s biggest controversies this year was in the Manchester derby. United came out on top at Old Trafford after a Bruno Fernades goal was allowed to stand, despite Marcus Rashford appearing to interfere with play from an offside position.

Crystal Palace +1
Roy Hodgson managed to guide Palace to Premier League safety with games to spare. Overall, they benefited marginally from VAR calls this season, gaining one extra point in total.

Bournemouth +1
The Cherries also marginally gained from VAR decisions this time around. Few would have predicted Bournemouth to be as comfortable as they were in the end, but Gary O’Neil has done a fine job since taking over.

Forest -3
Steve Cooper has been critical of VAR at points of this season as his side would have been three points better off without the technology. Luckily enough, Forest did enough to get over the line anyway and will now be planning for next year in the Premier League.

Leicester City-3
VAR has ruled out some exceptional goals over the years and Youri Tielemans’ strike against Leeds is right up there as one of the very best.

Leeds United -5
Plenty of Leeds fans will probably be glad to see the back of VAR as they head to the Championship. The technology saw Leeds lose a total of five points based on the decisions that went for and against them.

Manchester City -5
Believe it or not, but Pep Guardiola’s side were actually the joint-most affected side by VAR calls this year. Of course, this didn’t make much of a difference in the end as City still claimed the title with games to spare, but it is interesting nonetheless.

Man Utd had some unbelievable decisions from Howard Webb when he was reffing, and I suspected that when he became head of referees that his team would carry on his work.
Unfortunately humans involved in football has favourites and prejudice's even though they say that they don't and we wont get fair refereeing until the job is done by robots and hopefully that is not too far away.
I remember a match at Old Trafford, where a Man Utd defender handballed in the area Mike Riley put the whistle to his mouth and then bottled blowing it, because he was scared sh*tless of Sir Alex.

Would of made little difference to liverpool they were never really challenging for the epl any way.
Took them 28 seasons to win it.

The guy in charge of VAR is the same Michael Salisbury who was in charge of VAR at the Spurs Brighton game back in April 2023 a game I remember well as it did me in a decent bet.
The guy needs throwing out and banning he's bent. Surely he cannot be allowed back after 2 of the biggest controversies of the year.
