Hi all,

Eutelsat 21B at 21.5°E

This satellite was launched 10/11/2012 and has been testing at orbital position 31.7°E for the past couple of weeks... however it seems to have now finished testing and has been slowly moving westward for the past 2-3 days towards it's target destination of 21.5°E

I have just checked it's current position this morning (0800) and the n2yo website now has it at longitude 30.3°E

Code:

The new satellite has 40 Ku-band transponders and will (most probably) employ 3 beams... two of which look very promising for good reception in the UK...

Ku-band Wide beam (predicted)

Ku-band North-West Africa Europe beam (predicted)

Ku-band North East Africa/Asia beam (predicted)

I have not seen any solid news as to when this new satellite will start operations at 21.5°E

Hi again all,

I'm not sure what's happening with this new satellite... it was supposed to be parking at it's target destination of 21.5°E as stated by Eutelsat (see link below)

Code:
You don't have permission to view the code content. Log in or register now.

...but according to the n2yo website (see link below) Eutelsat 21B has now gone past/overshot the 21.5°E slot (which it reached this morning) and is currently at 21.04°E and appears to be still moving further west...

Code:
You don't have permission to view the code content. Log in or register now.

I'm not sure if any relevance is attached... but the n2yo website has also been down for most of the day...

I hope Eutelsat haven't lost control of their new satellite...

Edit: The n2yo website was supplying incorrect information regarding it's tracking of this satellites' position... and the satellite was parked successfully at the 21.5°E orbital position.

Best Wishes,
Zorch

Hi all,

I found a new active transponder (detailed below) last night... it used to be an occasional feed transponder on Eutelsat 21A... but it now looks like it's hosting 4 channels...

Eutelsat 21B at 21.5°E

11.508 V [2960] 9/10 DVB-S2 8PSK [Wide Beam]

IRINN Iranian News [VPID 1060/APID 1061/PPID 1060] FTA
Sahar 1 Azeri Iran [VPID 1200/APID 1201/PPID 1200] FTA
Sahar 2 Kurdi Iran [VPID 1210/APID 1211/PPID 1210] FTA
IRIB 2 Jaam-e-Jaam [VPID 1220/APID 1221/PPID 1220] FTA

TM 5402 HD CI+ Super+
Signal Strength 97%
Signal Quality 84%

This transponder must employ a very high digital bit rate... I have found that a minimum Signal Quality of 82% needs to be achieved for a stable lock on this transponder/channels... otherwise the channels freeze and give a 'No Audio/Video' message... or the lock disappears altogether...

NB
These channels have not been listed (as yet) on the Flysat/KingOfSat/Lyngsat satellite charts...!!

Edit: Transponder & channels now listed on Flysat

I have attached pictures below...

Zorch

Zorch you should be listing these on the popular listing sites you mentioned and get some credit for your hard work before someone else does

Hi digi247,

Zorch you should be listing these on the popular listing sites you mentioned and get some credit for your hard work before someone else does

Recognition doesn't bother me mate... I just like finding the fringe-reception or undiscovered transponders/channels and posting pictures/details... if anyone wants to use this information and post it to Flysat/KingOfSat/Lyngsat then by all means do so... it takes me long enough writing the posts/taking the pictures/cropping/editing them (which incidentally I forgot to do with these) and then uploading to the forum...

Edit: All pictures now replaced with cropped versions

I had some success last night with this one on my TM6900HD & TM5302HD signal coming through for about 5 secs now in every 10 minutes would suggest that this is the Middle East Beam,

Eutelsat 21B @ 21.5 east
11508 V 2960 9/10th DVB-S2 8PSK MPEG-4
Iranian tv Sahar
News V-1060 A=1061
SH1 V=1200 A=1201 Persian
SH2 V=1210 A=1211 English
J2 V=1220 A=1221
Weak signal here in Essex UK at times on this transponder as it goes from 80% quality to zero so may not be on the wide beam that I normally receive from this satellite with a 100cm dish,

Regards...................Merliin

Favourable reception here in the SE UK would seem to be 7:30pm to 9:0pm & early in the morning.

Hi again Merliin,

You might be correct about this transponder being on the Middle-East Beam... alternatively it's also conceivable that it's still be on the Wide Beam...

The transponder is using a DVB-S2 8PSK signal coupled with a fairly low SR and a very high FEC of 9/10

This could be the reason why you are finding it very difficult to obtain consistent reception...

Best Wishes,
Zorch

tried this one earlier and not a sausage although i get everything else on there thats listed, i may try later this evening and see if its any better.

Using Gibertini 1.25m with Black pro + Feedhorn and DrHD Grand triple

Hi digi247,

Can you receive these two transponders mate... sometimes they are very easy to lock-onto and sometimes very difficult... at the moment they are fairly difficult... :eh?:

Hi Zorch,

Yes i do get the 10.983 H [2600] 3/4 DVB-S2 [8PSK] 5793 Kbps [Wide Beam] Transponder

IMG_0184.JPGIMG_0185.JPG

But the other 11.304 H [30000] 3/4 DVB-S2 [8PSK] 65.3 Mbps [Wide Beam]

Not anymore since 21A Left although if i upload my previous channel list from the 12th Dec with that TP and Channels on then yes i still get a signal but its on and off.

Funnily enough and i cannot believe this but my new Solo2 actually picks up the 11508 V 2906 TP at around 60% but it will not scan those channels in and it wont even display some of the other MPEG4 encoded channels that my DrHD picks up.

This is a strange one

Hi again digi247,

What I would try is...

Open your VU+ channel list file in the VU+ Editor program and add all the correct transponder parameters manually and then also add the associated channels manually... then load the file back to the VU+ and see if that helps...

I have had some amazing results doing this on my TM 5402 HD

this one is for @zorch... a new txp has started in the low band with 18 channels on the mux.. 10.731.v.27500. 3/4 dvbs mpeg2 widebeam this maybe a good sign for the future for another mena position available with a 1m dish. regards mdt

Should be able to pick these up on a smaller dish as well some reports coming in that an 80cm is suffice for a Lock

Thanks for that post Andrew. I've just scanned in that transponder and only noticed then that Majestic Cinema is on it.

There's an Arabic film on it at the moment but at 12.30 the movie 'Shooter' is due to be shown as per Etfarag. It looks very likely that this is the same movie channel as on 7.3 West which shows recent movies.

The DOGs are identical and this is a most welcome addition on this satellite as the channel is much weaker on other.

No lock here 80cm and Technomate TM5402 rainy North West England.
Wll try again when the sun comes out...
