easy way to test whether fake or clone dm500s

in dcc To check if your mac address box is genuine just login to box via telnet and type cat /proc/bus/dreambox


this shoul tell you information about box....


if mac start with 00:12:25 then box is fake dream
if mac start with 00:09:34 then box is genuine dream

If you type IFCONFIG from telnet it will give you your MAC ady.

You can change your clones mac ady to a legit mac, by editing the init file in Var/

Use DCC to delete the contents of the file, then replace with the follwoing (make up the x's with hex), then reboot

ifconfig eth0 down; ifconfig eth0 hw ether 00:09:34:xx:xx:xx; ifconfig eth0 up

I don't have a 500 handy to test, but it would be interesting to know if this passes the test?
