Digivox XL Boot Up

Hi

Can anyone give me a very simple answer to this question.
I have an almost new Digibox XL (Not USB) given to me but when I turn it on it won't boot up and therefore I can't access anything.

Is there any way I can access the box or is it destined for the bin?

when you power off at back for a min then on,is there a display on box at all as i have had the very odd one with a switch problem,also if you have a 2 pin plug is it getting a good contact.
