Hello guys

I`m getting a playstation 2 from Santa, and well i just dont know where to start.

I know i need a chip, but which one?

I know i need action replay but where do i get one?

i heard about a chip you just plug in the back are they any good where can i get one?

if i get a chip and an action replay can i just borrow my mates games, give um a quick copy job on the pc with Nero and thats it, or is it much more complecated?
What about games you hire, can you copy these the same as above or what?
Come on guys i want input and lots of it!
A big huge thankyou in advance!!!!!

if you get a playstation for xmas m8 it will be more than likely a v5 on a 30003 board.

you could get a neo 2.2 and you only need to do a simple swop trick and will cost you a couple of quid eg £2 and takes about 2 hours to install 5 wires need soldering maybe more time needed but be careful as there is no turning back once you opened the case (sticker NOW VOID message)

you can go for a neo 4 which you don't need any swop trick just loads dirct chip will cost you £55 and has 40 wires and will take for ever to install.

with a neo key(type that goes on the outside only needs 2 wires could cost you £15.

there are many diagrams around the net so which ever you deside on getting come here and ask.

it not as simple as just lend them of your m8 and copy them you may need to convert them from dvd to fit on a cdr like converting a dvd to a cdr same kind of process.

for burning nero would do the job.

as for the hire games you have to make sure they are a normal cd and not a dvd (many gigs to get rid of).

hope this helps you out mate.
ps. if you need any diagrams for the version 5 board let me know.

Plug it in and switch it on

I would suggest the Neo2.2, there are others about but this one seems to be more widely avaliable.

You can get an action replay 2 v2 from http://www.playstationchips.co.uk for around £30. You can also buy the combination of Mod chip and AR2 from there for around £36.

Yup you can get them also, but there a still a couple of wires which need soldered and a action replay cart is still needed for booting PS2 games.

if i get a chip and an action replay can i just borrow my mates games, give um a quick copy job on the pc with Nero and thats it, or is it much more complecated?

Affraid its not as simple that. It is possible to make backups of your own originals for PSX games. It is possible to make backups of your own PS2 titles but I'm new to the game to all this also so I'm not too sure how.

What about games you hire, can you copy these the same as above or what?

Believe that to be illegal so have no comment, but I'm sure you can work the answer out to that for yourself.

I hope all this helps

there are tutorials here that will help you out on how to rip dvds onto cdr http://home.btconnect.com/big-design/

Check this link out
http://www.modchipstore.com/ps2/usbmod.html
it saves you having to rip your new ps2 appart.

I would try your local computer fairs. Went to bowlers at the weekend 4 lads on same stall fitting neo 4 for £45 !
