Hi Again,

i am trying to change a Telnet login password in Putty but it keeps on coming on screen incorrect the closes the webpage down

i have done the following

(1) Entered the IP of box and chosen the telnet option

takes me to a black screen
MySTB login: root
Password: Press enter
try to type another password

Is there an alternative to putty the change a Telnet password

What are my doing wrong !!!!

use putty
open telnet and type "passwd"

then you will be invited to type in the new password and confirm. (when your are typing the new password, it doesn't show on the screen)

I use Telnet through a CMD windows prompt and always get asked for the username which can never be changed on Enigma2 so it is always defaulted to 'root', and as @manic01 states there is no password until you apply one

Its not password you type in after login

The command to type is

passwd

You then need to enter the new password of your choice the hit enter you then need to repeat the password. At no time during this will you see the cursor move or anything.
