North east!!! In god's country
Well where are you going with it mate what time off year!!!!
I would never ever use a argos tent to go over the lake's never again as the last time it
P*ssed down and i mean p*ss down!!
I asked them if i would be good to go over their with it yes what about the rain Fine its got a taped seam + you get a bottle of seam sealer!!
Mint got home put the tent up in the garden put the seam sealer on let it dry over night and sleeped in it the next night every thing was fine
Until i went to the lake's and that very night it hammed down woke up at 4am
bottom of our sleeping bags were soaking their was a pool of water at the feet end and i could see the water streaming in like a tap it looked as if some one had pushed a hose in!!!!
So it will be ok if you pick the weather to go in But i dowt any one would want a tent Holiday bast on the weather As we all no this is the sunny old UK
Hit ebay m8 you will get a better one for that price with P&P in
we did and got a 4 man tent and its help up very well!!
Little Tip m8 if you get any seam sealer of waterproofing sprays with the tent put it on leave it on over night and blast it the next day with the hose with your kid's in side to see if any water get's in!!!

We picked up a couple of years ago an Outwell Hartford L, it is massive. I took it for me and the bro in law to a festival and it was one of the biggest tents there. It kept us dry and clean, had room for two big suitcases, plenty of beer, food and two big camping beds. One in each room.

It is a good height so you can easily stand up in the main section to get dressed and the front part is great for using as a windbreak to cook in.
It did get a couple of small tears in the fly sheet but not from the festival, it was the sodding cats climbing the fly sheet when I was airing it in the garden!!

This has reminded me I need to get some of that repair tape to stick on it, only trouble is I need to put it up to see it properly and the cats with no doubt claw the fooker again!!

We paid £50 for the tent 2nd hand with all the bits and pieces. Check out eBay.

mmm....padded walls....so soft...
Well it's polyester rather than nylon, which is a good thing.

However, with the hydrostatic head the larger the better. 1200mm is fine for a few showers during the day, but for a proper downpour in the likes of North Wales, the Lake District, Scottish Highlands etc you'll want a 2000+ hydrostatic head.

Highly recommend Vango tents, but you do pay a bit extra for the name.

I don't know if you have one of these near you,

www.gooutdoors.co.uk

I don't think their prices are the cheapest but the staff seemed knowledgable and helpful, I went in with a mate to get her some camping gear. She had never been camping before and one of the staff spent a good 45 minutes to an hour on a sunday afternoon going through the various options on tents and other gear. Didn't get any hard sell and after her trip she said she had pretty much everything that she needed.

Get a double skinned tent mate, the condensation doesnt run down the inside of the tent like in a single skinned tent.

This months Trail magazine has got a pullout on camping.

I am going to get into wild camping this year, and found it informative.

cheap tents are only good for places where the weather is good, here in the uk you would be better advised to get a good second hand one. also depends on what sort of camping your doing and what luxuries you want. If its just for a family holiday then ther are some really good trailer tents or folding campers which offer comfortable beds, possibly a fridge and cooker .

Can vouch for Vango

Got the Vango Colorado 800DLX which is a couple of years old now but is a fantastic tent with plenty of room. I bought mine out of season brand new for £200

You can stand up in it with plenty of room and the fold out tables fit confortable in there so if the weather is a bit shit kids can sit inside no problem.

This years one is a bit better than mine as the ground sheet is now sewn in

Gaynor's of Ambleside have got a good vango tent on offer.

I would vouch for the company too. Been to the bricks and mortar sites and they are very good.
