Up until this point, the app size limit for an app has been 2GB, so some developers may have had to make tough choices to make sure their apps fit the requirements.

Apple has made a big change as of today, though, as the company has officially announced that app size limits are being increased from 2GB to 4GB. As a result, Apple says that developers can release apps with far more media content, and feature far richer user experiences. However, what it does not change is the maximum delivery size limit over a cellular network, which is still 100MB.

“The size limit of an app package submitted through iTunes Connect has increased from 2 GB to 4 GB, so you can include more media in your submission and provide a more complete, rich user experience upon installation. Please keep in mind that this change does not affect the cellular network delivery size limit of 100 MB.“
