Hello,

I'm looking for a wireless router to split an AOL (ADSL) connection. Requirements would be:

1) Both Ethernet and Wireless connectivity.
2) Allow the router to log into AOL using a given username and password so that no software is needed (to be Operating System independent).

Having only dealt with cable I face gaps in my knowledge about splitting ADSL. Are there any common pitfalls? Anyone have any recommendations of which router to use?

And one following question out of curiosity... does the router connect to AOL AD-HOC or is it 'always on'?

Before anybody asks; no it is not possible to get a cable connection in the area ;) I'm just doing a favour for some friends.

Thanks, halt.

AOL supply wireless routers to subscribers.
Rather than your friend paying £9.99 a month for the connection and a basic broadband modem tell them to pay £14.99 a month and theyll get a wireless router (Netgear) posted out to them.
I have set up several of these and they work great, either ad-hoc OR continuous...its up to the individual how they wish to set it up.
