Ambit 250 tft comes up with 217.0.0.1 everytime

So i have a few ambit 250s i'm trying to sort out but it seems that when i connect it via the MAX232 then change the ip settings etc to 192.168.100.10/1 both tftfpd32 and solarwinds seem to come up using the ip address 217.0.0.1 or something like that.
I put in a ambit i did early in (blue peter style) then open up the tft prog and is comes up with the right one 192.168.100.10!
I keep the box open and just connect and try and run the other modem but the same thing keeps on happen - the tft times out whilst trying to search for the software to flash it.
Does anyone know why it'll go to that 217.0.0.1 ip? How can i change it?


I went into tftpd32 settings and clicked 'use tftfpd32 only on this interface' then put in 192.168.100.10 but doesn't work either.

ur getting a loopback (the pc is only seing it self and not the modem) leave ur ip set to 192.168.100.10/1 and try login into the modem http://192.1`68.100.1 and see if u login @ lease this will tell u if the modem or the ethernet port is fook...

Are you powering your modem up before starting tftpd/solarwinds?
When I first started playing with modems I followed the 250 tut to the letter. It doesn't mention powering up before starting up tftpd so I kept getting the wrong address up too.
