No I'm not mad :)

I have a client that wants a reliable receiver to watch 28.2E only. The receiver in question must be able to have the following:

Reliable software (not keep green screening)
Cool TV Guide
Cross EPG
Aspect ratio at least fairly correctly displayed
Record to sata hard drive and playback without problems.

As this is all he needs to do can people advise if this receiver would fit the bill and if so which software version/date would be best suited?

Cheers guys

Pretty sure people have recording problems with the tm800 mate, why not look at a dm800se or a vu+ solo or UNO?

the latest DW modified backup will do this, but the bits ive highlighted orange and read, ill explain

crossEPG does not work on this receiver, it possibly would with a little recoding, but tbh nobody can be bothered underatking such a task. Rytec updater works perfectly though, and is incorporated into the latest DW modified backup

record to sata, works fine with internal drived on SATA connection for drives UNDER 160Gb, otherwise TM will supply a USB-SATA adapter for you to use larger drives, which is then fine, but does mean youll sacrifice the front USB socket

cheers guys. I'll rule it out then. Trouble I got is he dont wanna spend much. He's got a DM800HD but he has been unlucky with it really and had quite a bit of grief with it. I was hoping the TM800 would be capable of doing the necessary and getting one second hand for him as I am trying to keep out of the clone area. Might have to re-think that.

If he just wants to watch tv and record the tm800 should be fine.
I only got fedup with mine because all the extra plugins didn't work, Mine worked fine for me for just tv but I like to play with the software. and extra addons.
Never used cooltv but know that rat used it with the tm800.

for 'only' watching TV, the TM800 is fine m8, im after a used one for the missus house to replace her 5402. full EPG, working media player for usb sticks, it does what most people 'need'

obv for people like us lot who 'need' to tinker with things, its not as good, but for normal viewing use, theyre fine

I'm thinking of swapping mine along with the wifi adapter and it's sales receipt for a working laptop

Remote control buttons are all working, but the OK button is slightly temperamental

lol, not just mine then. It becomes infuriating after a while.

do not bother getting one . they are terrible boxes . nothing but issues from day one . infact i would go as far to say as it is the worst piece of tech i have ever bought in my life .
