This looks like good value for money, or is there a reason why it's so cheap compared to other i7 based machines?

let us know how it goes mate, sound price for an i7 machine!

Ok so I've had the machine a few days now, I've reformatted it a few times and tried various builds of Win7 (64 and 32 bit), I've got to say I'm delighted with it.

It's so fecking fast compared to my old Dual Core 3Ghz machine and this is only running at 2Ghz - albeit with Intels Turbo boost which automatically re-clocks the machine up to a maximum of 2.9Ghz if required. I'm not sure whether to look at it as an underclocked 2.9Ghz CPU or an overclocked 2.0Ghz CPU, but I suspect it's the former.

Doing everyday common tasks my CPU usage doesn't seem to go above 20%, for example if I have Google Chrome running a few tabs one of which is a Youtube video, Newsbin Pro is downloading and I'm playing a game my CPU usage is approx 12%. My old Dual Core 3Ghz machine would have been sitting at approx 25% just running Newsbin Pro. Currently I've only got Google Chrome running, 6 tabs currently open one of which is a high def Youtube video and my CPU usage is flickering between 0 - 2 - 3%, periodically it will jump to 9%.

I'm very happy with it.

Plus, Argos advertise the machine as having 4Gb Ram, it actually has 8Gb installed. :)

argos do sometimes have some good offers, just a case of keep checking and I think they have a outlet store on ebay as well
