Firework thugs attack firefighters

Firefighters attending the scene of an arson have been pelted with lit fireworks by "mindless hooligans".

Essex Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of lit fireworks put through the letter boxes of two addresses in Adelaide Road, Tilbury.

As inspectors were examining one of the properties two of their colleagues remained in the vehicle which was "pelted" with fireworks", a spokeswoman for the service said.

She said: "Mindless hooligans triggered two incidents in the same road within minutes of each other and then attacked firefighters in an appliance."

The firefighters were unhurt and the appliance was not damaged but the incident was reported as a "near miss", she said.

Police will be investigating the attack, she added

not unusual up north in bradford round this time of year, wont get into the race thing but our friendly asian teens love throwing them at firemen and engines along with bricks ect....

im just waiting for one of there shops/homes to go up in flames and the fire brigade refusing to go there to put it out.

Glad nobody was hurt in Essex.

We've been bricked a few times in the last year. The most recent time our driver is lucky to be still with us, the builders brick missed his head by centimetres. The boys set a fire then hid behind the shops to wait for us.

After the incident we heard that the kids in the same area had bricked the Police Armed Response unit a few weeks earlier.

Sad really.. my kids wont do anything like this.. makes me wonder where they actually come from?? and which parents didnt bring there kids up properly..

Be a different kettle of fish if it was there house and other kids did the same thing they would be crying to the press about bad service etc
