iPhone o2 official unlock

once i get my iphone working...

would this work

i applied for a unlock code from o2 for paug iphone sim. i cant find the simcard tho.

if i update my phone through iphones will it automatically unlock or will i need the o2 sim card in ?

Do you know how long they take to update the database from the day you submitted the form ?

Also did you recieve any emails to say unlock is now available ?

Am just worried as i have lost the sim, so i wont receive txt message.

updated to 3.1.3 and it looks like its not been unlocked.

not true, m8....you dont have to put diff. sim init, i've just got my 02 unlock, all that is required is to restore in itunes, mine worked without any simcard init

The sim card is nothing to do with an unlock from the network provider. It is unlocked via the imei of the phone.

The phone networks have to provide an NUC (network unlock code) within 48hrs of applying, this is a new regulation by oftel.

not done through o2, they just submit it to apple, on the apple webby they state it can take upto 14 days

and they were amazing,

my iphone is now unlocked

am so friggin happy

The network providers already have the NUC codes for all the phones, and dont need to contact apple direct. Apple provide these codes with the phones, or the network providers lock the phones to the network when they get them, at no point would a network provider apply to the phone manufacturer for the code. You the consumer could apply direct to apple for the code, but they would just bounce you back to network provider.

I have no contract with o2 my boss gave me the iphone when he got his new one so at the moment I have no o2 sim. will they do it for me.

At the mo I have a giffgaff sim in it which is working fine. However the signal for 02 round here is poor and I want to use my three sim in it

o2 will only unlock the phone if it was bought off them originally. They are not able to unlock any random iphone handsets.

It was bought on a contract from o2 thats why a giffgaff sim works in it.

I dont know what a giffgaff sim is mate. Sorry, but if bought off O2, then they will charge you £15 to unlock it.

Hi Mate

I had a paug iphone simcard which i bought of ebay, topped £15 on it, activated it with iphone a few months back.

o2 chat and then the lady unlocked it there and there for me while i was talking to her.

click on support and top right hand corner you will see chat (Lucy)

Giff gaf is a virtual mobile supplier that is owned by o2 and uses the o2 network.

Bit like the asda vodafone.

Also tesco mobile is on 02 so that should work also. but not tried that one.
