hi there

i have a need to fax some documents to somebody, in the past when i was on dialup no probs just used 2 scan and fax job done.

now im on broadband i dont know how to send..........are there places u can send e-mail that they convert to fax or is there a piece of software u can use on bb ?

thanks

:)

Thoeretically u could use FoIP (Fax over IP, a standard that even exists longer then VoIP). Theoretically, because you would have to sign up with a FoIP provider and pay them good money :)
Other then FoIP, no you can't simply fax using Winfax for example.

Here are two of them FoIP providers:
http://dataoncall.com/
http://www.ringcentral.com/

Easier way is to stick with an analogue modem and use Winfax :)

why not get a cheap fax modem pci card say a 14.4 or a 28.8 pick em up for under a tenner then just use that for any faxing you need to do :)

yeah i can do ill put me old fax/modem card back in machine, it seems a backward step that was all, its not like im faxing every week or anything, this is the first time in 18 months ive need to fax sommat.

ive seen loads of places on the net that convert fax to e-mail but not the other way :-(

ill have to hunt around in my old bits box :)

thanks bad k

tpc.int looks what i need, checked fax nos and its a number they/i can send to foc that saves me going to loft for old modem :)

cheers

no m8,

u would be supprised the number of companies that dont have e-mail/internet access. i was doing a software rebuild for a well known cold store distrobution co last week, they had lost all driver disks that came with machine (M/board) i loaded op system but needed pci bridge software to enable network card etc but they didnt have inet access for me to get to home page. i had to drive 50 miles home download drivers burnt to cd and drive back ........!!!!!

they just use fax, in their business a fax is as good as cash if its signed, where as an e-mail is just an intent to do business that is all so they dont use e-mail at all.

it might be in a court, but these people only deal in fax as they said to me thats how we have done it for 25 years why change !!! they guy said u dont hear of many viruses in faxes :) i must admit i did laugh.

I do on occasion assist with matters like this for some friends that run a business and fax is still a very powerful tool in business so I have learned.

I said the same - Email, but I see certain advantages that fax has now.

Being difficult to delete or ignore paper is one but there are loads :).
