hi there as the title says is this system any good and if so what would i need to do to it to get the footy

Do you plan on buying some cards like digialb etc? There is not much open now so you would need either a diablo cam or the use off a sharing emu. Reading the specs that box want alow you to use a diablo cam because it has no common interface. I dont know about sharing emus with it i got as for as 'darkbox' then couldn't be bothered to read furthur. So I would not recommend this box, well maybe to someone i dont like

Whats your experience with satellite stuff? budget? do you need HD? and what do you want from a reciever?

cheers m8 experiance is zero lol just wanted somthing pretty cheap for the footie next season nothing else realy not botherd about hd but it would be nice. budget is about £200 but could stretch it a little if it's worth doing

Right mate, what you want to do is get yourself a dish and motor this will get you the most choice in sats nothing worse than being stuck on one sat (we all start off by thinking we will be ok on a fixed dish but once you get the bug.)

For a first reciever (am biased towards linux recievers) i would look at getting a dm500/dm600 or the new technomate tm500/tm600. Once you get the bug you can always sell them on to upgrade etc.

Have a read and get yourself familiar with whats going on and ask loads of questions, people have different opinions on equipment.

I would ask a lot more questions and do a lot more research to save yourself spending money you may not need to spend like me.

I started off with TM 3500+USB unit then got a dream box only to find the unit i had is more than enough for my needs.

what was needed in the end was a motor arm which i got which has made my dreambox surplus to requirements.
