I got hit when i bought a new antenna from the states.
They demand it at the door when they deliver.

Not sure who it arrives with, but they're not allowed to demand money at the door now (Royal Mail i know for certain anyway) - they have to post a card through your door and get your to collect at the local sorting office.

If its still the same, you dont pay the tax if you get the sender to mark the item as a gift.

Gifts only miss import tax if the value is below £30 IIRC.

duties are normally calculated at 10% When I used to bring in cars it was 10% duties and then 17.5% VAT

I could see sat and ter but no cable, but as calisto said he has had it up and running for 24 hours he must have got a cable receiver.

I will order a few (have to find some mates to go in with me as the postage is huge for only one box) as am currently without either a dbox or dreambox and these babies are pretty good value.

china post is good unlike our shitty royal mail, ive had items turn up in 2 days from china/Asian countries.

unlike the dream i bought in the uk it took over a week to get to me from 2 hours away by car...go figure...


i can confirm ive got one in the post...he posted today so should be with me in a couple of days, he,s a very reliable guy with regards to answering emails when you need anything or questions answered.


hopefully i dont get the vat charge, ive never got one in the past for items ive bought from china etc... but i guess ive been lucky.

My advice to anyone thinking they're clever and getting a job lot ordered together is to think again. Order 1 on its own and you stand a fair chance of no customs/vat charges. Order several and you have NO chance if it slipping through customs.
