Kids off 3 weeks at easter

3 weeks, im sure mine only have 2 weeks off, which is still too much.

I can't remember there being that much time off school when I was there (over 30 years ago now), although would have loved that much time off as i hated the damn place 😂

Wife said there's a handful nr us getting 3 she might be wrong, but saying that , why 2 ?? taking the urine 2 weeks with all thats gone on

joke

They need get a proper job, they'd sh1t buckets having to work 11 months a year.

I definitely wouldn’t want to be a teacher nowadays with some of the kids attitudes I see knocking about.
My wife worked with a lass who left teaching purely down to the abuse she got from some pupils.
I remember when my daughter was at school, three girls from her year took a dislike to a male teacher so they separately claimed he had made inappropriate comments to them to get him into trouble.
He ended up being dismissed after investigation. Shocking tbh...

And the benefits? more holidays than Judith Charmers

work at a school not a teacher but the abuse i hear daily is totally shocking ( if i heard it coming from mine wouldnt be long sorting it ) certainly would deffo react to it if directed at me

deffo not a holiday camp & i raise a glass to all the crap the teachers put up with these days bring back the belt lol

Fine the parents when all said and done the kids are their responsibility but that's going off the subject of the thread.

My thread was about kids having up to 3 weeks off.
Holidays should be shortened in hope they can play catch up. There off again in May half term.

to cut it short only the month of Novenber they do not get time off thats the school term
cannot see it changing to be honest

this is what people get wrong about teachers its not holidays its un paid time off
teaching jobs are paid pro rata if the job is listed at say 32k per year teachers only get 24k as
only working 9 months per year this is them paid over the 12 months given them about 2k per month

i am salaried for the school they take x amount of my wage per month that way i get paid for the holidays
suits me better that way rather than paye & not get a wage during School holidays

We all have opinions on the matter and I don't doubt they work hard "when" they are there. I have to disagree that, in today's climate given what's gone on over the past 12 months that giving kids 2-3 weeks off at Easter is the correct decision considering how much schooling these kids have missed. Surely playing catch up is more important rather than been stuck back at home.
Then there's half term in 6 weeks then 6 weeks in the summer. Thats a possible 11 weeks off in 5 months ?. In other countries kids would be begging to be allowed to go to school and learn while here they get less and less schooling hours.
I'm not getting in a teacher debate I'll save that for another thread :) even though I mentioned them at the start, I would like to point out that my main gripe is how much schooling the kids of today are currently getting considering what's gone on.
Won't be long before the advocate a 3 day a week then we'll have a nation of kids thicker than Dirk Diggler's donger

I always thought they still had to work when kids are off. Training, seminars, setting term assignments and marking work.

Most countries have very similar school holidays

School holidays by country in Europe (map)

Just shows europe, but the rest of the worlds education systems are pretty much based on Europe so are also simular

I got past caring and comparing the UK to other countries. What's good for the goose isn't always good for the gander.
I'm on about Covid and our kids still given the same holidays when some are a year behind, for me it's wrong

True, I don't disagree, and I also use to know quite a few that worked in my kids schools who use to shoot off Oz or USA for 4 weeks then easter half term, full term, summer, all scooting off here there and everywhere., swings in roundabouts.

Back to my discussion, our kids are months behind and we still have the same holidays, wrong

I never mentioned nursery I should have made it clearer I meant main stream school 5-16
