Hi guys we had an extension done years ago..on the ground floor..added an extra ground floor bedroom...now in the lift space above the room o can hear mice scurrying about at night and early morning.. little flickers keep me awake..had look in the loft space and all I could see is thermal insulation amongst the joists and electrical wiring..so I'm assuming they scurrying about under the thermal insulation and plasterboard for the ceiling below.. apart from obvious set mousetraps what else can I do get rid of the vermin.?.lol

Any power points up there to use ultrasonic pest repellers, mouse traps .

Strange this pops up today, I've lived in this house for over 20 years & never seen a mouse but we had one last night/today. My boy caught 1 last night but released it about 50 yards from the house, since found out best practice is seemingly release them at least half a mile away. Anyway either another one or the same one re-appeared today, I'd bought 2 traps from Screwfix & put marshmallow in them, unwanted mouse caught within an hour. RIP Mr(s) Mouse:(
Recommendation for Screwfix mousetraps from me
Pest-Stop Sure-Set Plastic Mousetraps 2 Pack
& these
Candyland - Princess Pink & White Marshmallows 150Gm

Good luck,
HH.

Dont think i have tried mousemallows. 😄 😄

I had them in my Garage. Spoke to the bloke that visits my work doing the pest control explaining i didn't want to kill well not strictly true but the wife was horrified at the thought of killing them.

Anyway on his advise i got some of those trap door traps and plastered it with peanut butter apparently even when they feel somats not right they carnt help themselves . I caught 8 in a week and no more after that took em to a field about a mile away. Wife said i hope they find each other

Another tip he gave me to drive them away and keep them away was used cat litter in small tubs all over the garage . It so happened the daughter has a cat so i did that as well. Never had them again.

Thsnks guys ..think I'll try the screwfix mousetraps...and marshmallows...I probably end up eating the marshmallows myself lol..got no powerpoints up there ...

Apparently, peanut butter is the way forward.

They can't run off with a lump of it and have to stay to eat, makes the trap more effective.

Personally, I'd humane trap them and relocate them. We had an issue at work with mice, we are next to an allotment and lots of greenery. The manager who complained to the maintenance staff about them found they were installing traps and went off it saying he didn't want them killed.

worse here we have rats all way up to loft need to pay pest control £85.00 quid before they will even appear reckon its due to old meat factory thats now closed near bye nightmare

Don't want to put a dampner but it could be squirrels.

Feck that have some fun.

poundland have packs of traps so cheap to put a few out and as said something sticky chocolate spread, peanut butter or jam

Well it's been a week or so.got the screwfix traps and put them in roof space but hsvnt caught the vermin..was thinking of getting some used cat litter and put it up in the loft space..wot u guys think?
The electronic sound pitcher apparently don't work according to reviews and vids I've seen..as for the peppermint balls , wont they dry out in a day as it's very warm up in the roof space..?

Can't say about how quick the peppermint balls will dry out in the loft as I used mine in a couple of sheds and put in fresh balls each week and even when the balls had dried out the still had quite a strong smell to them. We had about 8 to 10 rats using the garden and the sheds, they were gone within the 3 weeks and have had any sign of any since (about 5 months now).

How is a cat going to crap up there in a small entrance🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔😸😸
Lol...I'm thinking of getting used cat litter from neighbour's across the road and put that in some old trays or tubs and leave it on the joists..
