Manchester United thread

Unfortunately my honest opinion is that we're ripe for the slaughter this evening, even against a poor Chelsea.

We're in a very sorry state, looking like the worst United side I've seen since the birth of the Premier League.

I hope I'm wrong but that's my honest opinion.

The squad is fine, no real gripes with what he's done in that department, maybe let a striker to many go and certainly should have kept Januzaj here but all in all this squad should be performing much better.
Looking like he's no idea what to do other than the same thing week in week out, it's the actual definition of insanity. Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

That is a Wenger trait!!!

First ever post and has to be about United. Was against Van Gaal for a while but have kinda changed my mind. Definitely don't want Mourinho and maybe if we could hold out get Guardiola in the summer

Don't think Guardiola will go to man city f its a choice with united.

He might not have a choice if utd don't make top 4!

Think we surrendered the ball a bit more today and let Swansea play a bit, gave us more space when they made a mistake. Giggs influence ?

A kick up the arse and told to pass forward not backwards would help more !

Yes would definitely be a good start! last couple looked a bit better but not the United way we all know, used to be 1 down with 10 mins left and be confident of the win, miss the fergie era!

It wasn't just the Fergie Era; even back to Atkinson and Docherty when in all truthfulness we were not the best team around but there was always that feeling of we may just do it, because the football was attacking and exciting and we went to most matches knowing we would be entertained and we accepted defeats because we had tried. That feeling is no longer there, maybe it is because Football is just Big Business now but without that feeling and expectation from the fans the atmosphere is gone and that is when the crowds also start to go and without the crowd there is no Big Business either.
However, there will always be fans and with fans there will always be a Football Club irrespective of any League standing.

We need to let the Ferguson era go, he evolved the club into a huge corporation, he has his part in the path football followed and the parts played by the oil rich have cemented the money talks era we now see. Sadly for match going hardcores, we can stay away but the tickets will still sell to the corporates and stadium revenue now is just a drop in the ocean.
Win at all costs doesn't seem to be our mantra just yet though, Van Gaal still being in a job is a testament to that.
Should he have been sacked ? Well maybe ! But after the recent spell the clubs been through we are stabilising and rebuilding and sacking him now would be following a similar philosophy Chelsea have taken with the "special one".
City and Chelsea will still get success and might even (Chelsea aside lol) entertain, but I've yet to speak either set of fans on match days that are entirely happy with the direction the clubs going. City are still a bit shit here and there and Chelsea were propping the table up a few weeks back.
I'll see what Van Gaal does now that he's accepted his vision of football needs change in order to survive and I'll accept that he's actually turned this club around squad wise, and even if he can't use it then a younger more in tune manager will have no trouble getting this squad challenging again.
I think once the dust settles most United fans will look back on the LVG years and realise the mammoth task he's undertaken and this is from a United fan who had lost faith entirely.

Another jammy win in Fergie time for Man United by a goal that wasn't even a penalty. When are this team going to get there act together?. Sacking LVG is not the answer it is his puppets that are not playing for him.

That was a stone wall penalty !
We have returned to being utter shit though after a couple of half decent performances.
The OT crowd have gone past being angry and descending into mockery of the team and staff. This won't end well for VG unless he pulls his finger out.
