What is the benefits of these box's?

I cant get a motorised sat setup, so I am stuck with slys sat. So would it be worth me getting one of these bad boys? If so which one?

The answer is yes mate,

You can't have a moving dish?

Is it because of the south view from your house?

Mick

Its because I back onto woods, and the trees are pretty close.

Attached is pretty much the view my dish has.

Depends what you want from the box tbh
Tv only you can get HD boxes for around £80

Plugins and messing with recording to pc and stuff then dream is a good choice

My dish never moves tbh so depends what you want really :)

Benefits of dm800 1. It's HD 2. The clones are cheap....ish 3. Plenty of support in the form of images - great epg - nice clear picture - (I have 1 so I am going purely from my experience) 4. Nobody give a hoot about the makers of this box unlike the near constant bickering/sniping about some of the alternatives on the market. Support for original and clones is ongoing and has been as far back as I can rememberDownside to the clones is it does seem a little bit of pot luck.....Don't know if this has improved now with the new revisions ect. But you only need to look around to see some people have had problems with their clones. Can't really say much about the other DM boxes that you mentioned as I dont own any of them.......But my DM800 clone owes me nothing in terms of how much I paid and what I have got out of it use wise.

hi mairyhinge..if you can't have a motorised dish why not consider a multi LNB setup with a diseqc switch?..You would probably need to change your dish though as the standard S*Y dish wouldn't be big enough to pull in what's on offer from the different sats..
jim

if you got an andriod phone install dishpointer app and see what
sats you can view, then go from there whether you want a motorised
or a fixed dish, ive install a motorised dish but been thinkin of doing away
with it and gettin the dish fixed and 2 lnb for 28e,19e13e this seems to the best
for me

Thats the option I took..had a motorised set up but could never get it quite right, so dismantled the mount and removed the motor and now have a 3 LNB , 4 way diseqc switch setup...does me fine..

The only real problem will be the loss of the ability to record 1 channel and watch another unless you get a twin tuner.
The DM800SE would be the box of my dreams if it had a twin tuner, but I suppose as we move on through development the price will come down and more will be available.

I've heard TM have a Twin Tuner coming out soon...

The DM8000 is basically The DM800's big brother....With the 2 tuners and the ability to watch 1 channel and record the other.

overpriced though. A VU+ Duo a much better option or the Extrend ET9000

The DM800HD clone is cheaper than the VU DUO. But im not sure the support is up to scratch only Ferarri Team make Dm8000 clones. Maybe if SIM2 team released a 8000 clone it would be worth a look.
Original 8000 HD is stupidly overpriced. Good units though if cash wasnt an issue the DM8000 is still the box to have, quad tuner capable, supports internal DVD drive built in card readers etc..

Last time I looked a DM8000 clone was £350 upwards. If you shop around you can pick up a duo for £300

True, DM8000HD clones are around 350 ish. Didnt realise DUO's had come down in price. Both are still too expensive for my liking though.
Hopefully the next year brings some well needed competition to the twin tuner market. Top price for a twin tuner model should be no more than 250. Probably even less considering a clone DM800SE is 150 quid with a single tuner and 400mhz CPU. Clones twin tuner should be 200 quid tops.

Price is exactly why I don't have one lol. And the fact that there is hardly ever anything I want to watch on 2 different channels at the same time to justify a new "toy" lol. I just send misses upstairs to watch her shit if that situation ever arises.......or is it the other way round lol.

geat a dreambox 800HD and you'll love em! loads of things to do on them, they really have been a great box, out of all the ones i've messed with....sagem, techno, etc....can't beat a dreambox me thinks....

I agree. I have never quite worked out why an extra tuner should add £150 or more. Because twats like me pay it I guess :)

I personally can't wait till the clone makers beat DM at their own game and release a twin tuner model at a reasonable price.

As for the OP, if like me you love messing around then the DM is the box for you :D
