I am not a linux expert but an end user and supplier/installer
The only internal drive i can use is a seagate but i dont have one
music channels audio is set to other language when set to english it does not save it and procedure has to be repeated every time
pvr is not even 20% ready
streaming does not work
time shift does not work
timed recording is unrealiable
still green screens if you pause while watching recording and press play to resume
still you say its perfect
I will keep repeating the problems the TM800HD has if you keep denying they exist
I am a member of plenty of other forums but to date have said nothing about the TM800HD
If you keep being the arogant pretender i will post what I find on every forum that i am a member of

in spite of all of the things the receiver does or doesnt do, THIS is the TM800s biggest problem, which keeps popping up time and time again

iQ team started about 10 days ago and saying it will finish max in next 3 weeks.

You set yourself up for a massive fall EVERY time. I stopped posting dates about 9-10 months ago. You have publically said that by 31/7/11 everything will be fixed, the receiver will run all OE based plugins, and will have full functionality

on 1/8/11 we will see follow abc all over again when (not if) the date is missed again

i have 3 kids, aged 6, 9 & 12. they can all use E1 based receivers, DM800 and Vu+, as a basic end user, none of my kids are linux receiver experts. and while they can use the tm800, the only thing they like about it is that they can plug their memory stick in and watch a film, but then when they start scrapping (which they do) they cannot rewind to what theyve missed.

theres a huge difference between a 'linux expert' and an end user, the user interface of the receiver is designed so that you dont need to be a linux expert to use one

TM really now needs to start SCREAMING at their coders, cos if you think this thread is bad now, itll be a LOT worse on the 1/8 after posting what ive quoted above if nothing materialises

with time differences, and knowing what i know about peoples locations, it should be possible to have at least one person working on the code for 25 hours a day (25 not a typo)

As a non-owner ( I actually have a TM500 and an Openbox s9) , I have followed the TM800 forum closely for the last 12 months with the intention of delving into it. I was one of the first to get hold of the TM500 pre-production models that Digidude has (had) and was used as a guinea pig for that machine. It runs perfectly well for what it does but took a couple of months to get there but it does not run a pvr or have any sort of media player. The Openbox on the other hand has a PVR and it works flawless , recently they have added a media player to it also but the firmware is a bit buggy so have gone back to the non media player version.
Anyway my point is there are other alternatives out there to get you what you all want for a fraction of the price of the TM800. After 12 months of broken promises from the software developers "UR" do you think it will get sorted any time soon, in my opinion, no. If I owned a TM800 at this moment in time , I would move on to something else, not an expensive machine, Duo etc , but consider a box that works like the Openbox PVR and keep your TM800 to play about with in the hope it gets sorted. You can get an Openbox for £75-£100.
I have previously owned a Technomate TM6900HD and after owning that for 3 months they brung out the Super version so feel all your pain about price cuts etc but I feel Technomate to be a bit unscrupulous business wise, but to be honest they do seem to have bent over backwards to help out the TM800 owners.
What you have got to remember is they was more or less forced to release the TM800HD by public demand last year after announcing the machine. Without putting exact dates on it , I'm pretty sure it was late being released by at least 3-6 months, so the pressure for the machine to be released was intense. But they would not release because the software was not ready. I have finally got to my point, Technomate should never have released this machine at all regardless of the clamour for it. They should have stuck to what they do best, a closed source satellite receiver. A

you are correct in some of your comments about releasing so soon.i remember first box i tested i advise tm do not release it but after few week these members that non stop complaining now were begging to be sold to them
under toomuch pressure tm released few boxes ,after few days war started that this dosent ot that dosen ot work,before release tm announced 75% of functions not working but hay did not listen

by 24-7-2011 image i believe over 100% this box is very good ,few functions left but i am using it without any problems except few functions left to fix
i wish all these moeners get to gather and go to tm for their problem i am sure thay all will be happy

right i have followed your exact way dr linux and i still get audio drop out , hd still not in sync - hdd not working - when im changing channels i get the cogs of death and have to turn of back of box of then on again (thats a new problem for me ) .When i pause film and hit styart again i get green screen . So pal where do you want me to stop ?? so i suppose i dont own a box and cant fallow abc again

Can sombody check there box thats using the latest DW image if they can still open the ftp port and telnet port, but when I save and go back its still closed.

i can telnet in on the default port 23, and ftp on the default port 21

Digi on the box itsself in the last image you could open ftp and telnet from the menu if you wanted to give somone remote support without them having to port foward on thier router. No when i go to open the ports on the box and save it dosent save so when you go back into the menu they are closed again.

Dr linux im a new member to d/w and iv never dealt with linux before but its the future. my quote was only because i had my mv box for nearly 3 years.and had to upgrade to hd and the tm800 came highly recommended and i now own one and look forward to using it. iv only had my tm for about 2 months.and because it comes with no manual im reliant on the good members to help me out.yours thankfully tricky1342
