Announcement from TM.com

why the need for remote and also why receipt as all are tm product so doesnt matter where they were bought from
what if you used ebay or another source and no longer have receipt
or bought 2nd hand still must have 12 months warranty

that is exactly what i am thinking, mine has the fan so its obviously not 12months old, i think we should get another 12months warranty with this new box never know what can go wrong.

I spoke to the MD yesterday afternoon at length and tbh some of it went over my head lol but what I did understand I'm optimistic that things are looking up :) I'm going to pick mine up maybe tomorrow or Saturday and will report back if no one else has by then

I had a moan myself a couple of weeks ago but am feeling a lot happier by this news

@Diego can't see other manufacturers recalling all their boxes like this, if this was a spiderbox you would have been ridiculed then banned with no fix.

@hnj there are no tm800 that are 12 months old so can't see a problem.

I have been frustrated for a while with my box but the fact that tm are still working on a fix at their expense shows a level of customer service above and beyond what some other manufacturers give.

maybe ? but I really don't think so,looks like they have now found the root of the problem and are now fixing outstanding issues :)

who would spread such and thing like this (below) Ive got my suspicions ;) tbh I think that is utter trash tbh guys

TM 800 project has Failed..

After trying so Hard with very cheap CPU NXP ,,the TEAM of IT GATE Manufacture has FAILED...

Re : information of It gate :

All the Engineers.(It gate) Back to Korea after working 3 month… and project has failed.. last shipment,2K.. all qty shipped back ( HW-Main board problem, smps problem, even sw not a success yet ) to Korea..

TM will soon look for another project ALI chip is 50 dollars HD stb in China...actually this kind of stb is already selling in middle east market...
Lets hope that next time TM don't use their customers for experiments.

looks like Darkman was right about this tm800 all along

I saw that post somewhere ages ago.

The TM recall might be a microcode update, couldn't find much on the processor.

The Darkman stuff is months old..it was already posted here ages ago in another thread...
Might me some truth in what he says...might all be a load of rubbish..who knows..he's probably got a hell of a lot of more contacts in the industry than most people...so might have access to inside info..
His own support spiderbox stuff seems to be just as bad...cant criticise or talk about any faults or your banned from his forum...
The TM Linux story...is all one big joke as well so far...from delay after delay, to a 50 quid price rise, to another 50 quid for wirelss dongle...which were also delayed.
This is before you even get to the software issues ! Be intresting to see if these upgrades fix the tuner problems on the other thread or whether there is underlying hardware problems as well..
At least TM are making some effort to fix the issues I suppose...,maybe at some stage next year the TM800 might be worth considering....

Taken from elsewhere, posted on many sat forums.
Don't start moaning at me for posting it as it's everywhere.

Maybe Digidude can confirm or deny this info?

lol. A darkman press release spouted on here months ago

well just ordered my ParcelMonkey pickup for tommorow afternoon :FRIGHT::FRIGHT: so hopefully i should get it back the middle of next week. As soon as i do i will report back. Wish me luck :proud:

I havent said much about this because I like to see what others say first lol...

Firstly good on TM on sorting this on such a great scale. Lets face it what they are actually doing is unprecedented and really not their fault from what I understand.

Secondly what does this mean for users of others boxes like the TM500 Super... Iv been crying about the Widescreen issue ever since I got the receiver.

I was going to mention something about those who dont acutally own TM receivers but think everything has already been said regarding that.

if ~10k receivers have been shipped out, and TM want ALL of them back, and are prepared to pay £8 each way delivery, then thats £16k theyre paying out for something they could have easily denied was a problem, and quietly released a TM800HDs. This is what other companies have done for years, one particular site is well known for doing it, then banning anyone who even thinks about complaining. technomate obviously wants to ensure its end users are happy

with the tm500super, the widescreen issue can be fixed, i showed this with the DW FTA image i released, work is still going on to turn this into a full image complete with emulators etc

I have emailed TM with a couple of questions before I return mine.

Not least of which am I getting my box back or is this a swap. 2 days seems really quick for a turnaround. Secondly will the image on this box allow me to read the cardshare from my other box or is it a FTA image?

from what i gather although i could be wrong we are getting new boxes ??

I'll be contacting my supplier and asking for a full refund instead of getting this box replaced.

It really is a joke.

Well I don't give a flying f@#k about having to be without and posting me box,

By my reckoning I'm well impressed with TM, they could have easily washed their hand of this and just let image compilers work round the issue,

I'm posting my box in the morning.

They want to reprogram a CPU?

How the fook do you do reprogram hardware? :err:
Isn't that the job of the Firmware?

Can one of you Tech guys explain this to me please.

Do they really mean "we are replacing the CPU"?

I was expecting the TM800 to be an adventure, but this is turning into an epic. :)

I rang them and they have apparently totally rewritten the cpu, so much so that old images will not run. It's done on a hardware level so only the techs can do it. Somthing to do with the drivers which is what was always thought to be the problem.

I really hope this is the fix we have been waiting for be refreshing to hear positives about this box. The guy told me this allows youtube and mkv plus lot's of other fixes.

I'm confused.

If it's hardware then how will software change the hardware? :err:

Sounds to me like they are replacing the cpu - which I wish they would anyway.

I know it's frustrating I am also frustrated but to be honest if they had the wrong drivers for the chip it's hardly tm's fault, they can only go on what the chipset manufacturers tell them.

I'm old enough to remember the p90 fdiv bug unfortunatly with chipsets mistakes can happen, it's a pain in the butt for users but it's very expensive for tm. They could have pretended there wasn't a problem and just released a revision b (dm800 clones are on revision m I believe) but they havn't are now going to take a massive financial hit reprogramming all the cpu's.

Good customer service isn't about when things go right it's about when things go wrong and for me while I am p!ssed off I have to give credit to tm for doing the right thing by their customers.
