[TM800HD] Hot ?

Receiver due tomorrow. Just wondering if there is connector on board for internal fan and if so which fan would be recommended.Prefer not to use external usb fan unless it is the only option. Thanks in advance.

No internal power header mate.

Only power is for the HDD.

no connector for pcb fan inside

usb job

only connection it has inside is

sata, sata power adapter and wifi module

the 4 pin molex connector has a 12v rail.
strip it and attach your 12v internal fan.
as for the fan, the bigger it is, the queit it will be.
what size fan will fit into the case?

I had tm800 for a long time with the latest image has been very satiable no crash at all.
I am not using functions which is not ready yet ,
to take this box to the limit I bought a lazar thermometer on line for £19 ,put this box in the middle of my tm8000 and tm6900 turn on 3 of them for few hours ,
aiming thermometer to the cpu I can read 68 also heat sink of power supply 57
Just to test that reading is not falls I aimed at my hand and was 33
box has been working perfect no reboot no blue screen,
I am really surprised as why you are getting heat problem but I am not also not using any fan,

a quick update on my problem

the supplier of where I bought my box put me in touch with Technomate direct to sort out what I think is a problem (with my box not all) to my surprise I found myself speaking to the MD via email then directly on the phone
he was more than helpful and I explained the problems I was having,he was concerned and wanted my box back for further testing asap and exchange it for a new box that would be tested by an engineer before being sent out (today) so boxes should be exchanged tomorrow

he explained the boxes go through rigorous testing before launch and explained some of the tests that they go through at length

all that said all electrical products are not 100% failsafe and anything that is mass produced you are going to get the odd failure, and it seems I may of had one of those lol

all said and done I cannot fault them with there concern and efforts to try and put this right

I thought it only right that I post and explain that they are trying to sort issues rather that brush them under the carpet
and I'm looking forward to getting my new box tomorrow :Hit:

well done TM

That's awesome Rat. :)

Well done Technomate, superb.

I wonder if Fes is still having probs?

I tried to speak to him on msn last night to see how he was getting on
but he wasn't around

Should i be worried my tm800 does get really hot, but it doesn't freeze completely ?

Well anyway i was beginning to think that i was going to have to fit an internal fan, but then i remembered my old external usb laptop cooler which i bought on ebay for a tener.

Well i placed it under my box expecting worse results because i reduced the space between the box and the cabinet to about 1cm. And after 3 hours come back to check and the box is completely cool.

Wow did not expect it to work so well at all.
Or at least i think it worked from touch.

Should i be worried my tm800 does get really hot, but it doesn't freeze completely ?

well mine has completely died

just technomate on screen

i will be sending it back for replacemnt

like u say could be just a daft problem missed at Q/C

New box turned up today as promised by TM :)

its been on since 3.30pm today not frozen once, its been 100% stable for 5 hours
no sync issues as yet

dunno what else to say but so far so good
100% happy now
Thanks Technomate MD

have had my tm800 from day one .it has been over 2 weeks now not even one single crash or blue screen.it has been 100% working ,
the secret is simple I have fallowed full details from tm download centre .as we all know messing around with it
at this stage when some functions being fixed can create problems,
just enjoying my cccam c:line, watching the best hd picture in my 42 inch TV much better than my original dm800 ,
will start messing around with dream edit or other tools Etc,when image is fully ready,

Had my unit just over a day loaded the image and found a few sats that are stored on vbox which acts as a postioner. Back to thread the unit is getting very hot and it's on it's own not on top of another unit or in a cupboard. I only played with it last night for couple of hours,Not started it up today yet but still very hot just standing there.

Many thanks to DIGIDUDE for all his help he is a topman

Soon as I turn my cooling fan off the receiver crashes and I probably could fry eggs on the top that's how hot it becomes!!

Surely this must be to do with a faulty batch or something as only selected individuals have the issue??

I've bought 4 of these bad boys in total and each one has same problem!!

LOL..Your obviously a TM Fanboy and beta tester...with nothing bad to say about the device.

- People like messing around with features and functions on Linux boxes and this forum in general...thats the whole point of having a Linux box..
- Surely there will be bugs with such a new/device images...at the moment as with any new devices...your basically just in effect bug testing for TM.

At least TM seem to be making an effort to resolve hardware and software issues, lets hope they continue to do so longer term as the box matures...

Have you reported it to your supplier yet ? Probably best to do so ASAP and see if you can get replacements.

A week old brand new box and people are thinking about getting replacement box that reminds me to send of my warranty card LOL

Mine does get hot on both sides on top of the box but no more than my TM600.

i bought 2 boxes of 6, and each one was fine, i even have the one ive had for months and thats been abused as hell, and that one works fine

as with all mass produced equipment, there will be a few that slip the QC net, and with equipment like this, thats designed to be abused by hobbyists, any imperfections will be found pretty quickly

if you have had 4, and they have all been faulty, id suggets getting onto your supplier m8, or, getting your electrical extension leads etc thats being used (if any) PAT tested to ensure theres not a problem there that could be doing something to the power supplies?
